Periventricular White Matter

I am 47 and After serious episodes of weakness, years of very bad migraines and passing out I have been told via MRI and discussion With Neuro. that I have some white matter disease and De-myelination  of myelin sheath. The radiologist report indicates possible past strokes and also indication of possible MS. My doctor says this is all just a result of history of migraines and every year goes by I feel worse and weakening. My muscles do not last long in any activity, even just shopping.  I have slight heart leak and thickening of septum as well as low lying cereb. tonsils. Although Neuro said the tonsils are in acceptable position. I am constantly weak , feel needles and pins and pain all the time. We sit and talk and nothing improves. Please help. I know I need more discussion with doctor. Does this lead to MS for sure? thank you

Thank you so very much for your response. I had an awful time just moving today. My Nuero does handle hospital emergencies as well so I do not think he is a headache speicalist but he does seem to see me only that way. I am finally going to just go far that second opinion. Thanks again you have been so very helpful.

Thank you so much for your response. Today was the worst I was shopping for abt 10 minutes and could no longer walk. Yes I have seen my primary and he has suggested another Neuro. I will look into setting an appt. I am just so afraid it will be useless. But I did just recently find out thru friends that this new referral is going to be a better experience for me. I so appreciate your response.  Second opinion will be for me.

Is your Neurologist a headache specialist? Neurologists specialize. If you feel you could have MS may be seeing a MS Specialist is needed. I was sent to a Neurologist who was a headache specialist when one Neurologist thought I had MS and was leaving for another job. Everything pointed to MS and she flat out told me I did not have MS. Luckily she fired me and the next Doctor was a MS Specialist. It took a year and a half but he finally diagnosed me with MS.

If you feel that your neuro. isn't listening to you, I would suggest seeking a second opinion.  Sounds like you have a lot of issues going on and MS alone is hard to diagnose.  When I was having communication issues with my neuro. I saw my primary dr. and she suggested a second neuro for another opinion.  Have you seen your primary lately for some guidance?

I'm sorry you're in a frustrating position  I think many of us here have been there.  I hope you find help!
