Everybody, all things

It is difficult when replying or just posting when I keep in mind that the idea I am expressing is being read by more than the person to whom I am addressing my message.

I might speak about the joys of dancing.  Of course there are folks reading who cannot dance let alone get out of their wheel chairs.

I can talk about the difficulties of keeping my job when I know some folks here never where able to have a job or lost it immediately when there disease became apparent.

I can talk about the intricacies of keeping a marriage going.  Yet, there are folks here who have never been married or whose marriage was lost to them by their medical situation or some other reason.

Sometimes it is just hard to say anything.  I am sure you might say that is ridiculous.

Quix- Well said!

Michael, I have only been with this forum for about a month, but I've benefited from reading the good, the bad, and the ugly.  I also am uplifted by a few, like yourself, with the witty humor.  Don't feel like you are hurting others by expressing something that you are experiencing, because I've enjoyed reading your posts and/or learn from what is said.

Yes, Michael is my name.  You can use that or call me McBacon if you prefer.  I like Michael myself.

And I quite understand the impossibility of comunicating on all levels.  I have worked coordinating people from many skill sets and backgrounds.

Is that your name?  Would you like us to use it?

I also think your questions are thoughtful and caring - not surprising since you have shown youself to be so.  But, I feel that people read forums like this to find answers and truths.  If we censor our thoughts, by trying to consider all the possible situations of those that might read, then we end up paralyzed and unable to say anything.  OR we end up not speaking our hearts.

I believe that we should speak from our hearts.  That is the only way that others can hear the truths we might be able to share.  When we do this we are giving everyone who reads a gift, a true piece of ourselves.  This is much greater than any small comparision we might show up between our situation and that of others less fortunate.  People unable to use their legs know they can't dance.  It comes as no surprise to them also to hear that others can.

Just be yourself.

Thank you for becoming a part of us.

Yes, I am VERY lucky.

a poem my wife wrote:

Illumined

Your gaze,
like x-ray,
like light,
not visible,
a wavelength so small
it travels through the body
past what is reflected,
to the interior.
It stops a little
where the body is more dense.
You can see
the shapes of my heart,
my ghostly bones
framed in the still life of the moment.

Oh, lover,
it is night in the body
until we search.
We sway in darkness,
moving between and among.
What can be found
has traveled from the sun,
and has made its way
deep
to where I wait.

I don't think it's rediculous at all. I think it's incredibly thoughtful of you to stop, and consider the others who read your post.

I feel guilty often times because, although un-dx my disability is minimal in comparison to so many here, even though to me it's drastic.

Thank you for stopping to consider those people who can't do the things people like you and I can. It's very kind.

Christine
