I had the same issue a couple of days ago. I was laying on the couch and my left leg had that cold/wet "Novacain" type feeling. I thought maybe I was pinching something so I got up, walked around and stayed standing for about 5-10 minutes. It didn't go away so I just sat back down and it seemed to go away within a couple of hours. Not an issue that would keep me from doing anything...but odd!
I have the exact same sensation in the exact same location. I know just how aggravating and uncomfortable it can be. Hang in there, mine FINALLY went away after 4 months.
I did notice that it happened when I had a stressful day at work or allowed myself to get too tired.
I hope yours goes away quickly!

I get a cold sensation on my outer thigh, both left and right. Weird, huh? So that's the lateral cutaneous nerve, but it comes from the lumbar region, which isn't affected by lesion activity. What's interesting to me is that lots of us have this problem - so there's something consistently happening that causes it. Maybe a misfire further up the spine?
Hi, I was told that the tendons in my hip/groin had tightened and was pinching the lateral cutaneous nerve where it exited out in front of the hip area. I was told they could do nerve releases but I didn't think it was bad enough to warrant surgery.
Those areas on my lateral thighs have now gone completely numb and I just get shooting nerve pains from time to time.
Hope this helps.
Regards
About 5 years ago I went through something similar, where it felt like ice chips melting on the inside of my R leg, from groin to ankle. This lasted about 4 months. Hasn't returned since, knock wood...
Weird, huh? As you keep feeling them, do you find yourself getting complacent about the sensations, or do you still check to see if there really has been H2O spilled? I always check, in case one of the cats knocked something over...
I'm so used to having sensations I'm told I'm not having... (?!) that I just don't get excited anymore. I had pressure under the left side of my chest and, like last night with the freeze, I was too tired to care. I remember trying to get up the energy to sit up as I fell asleep.
This is my weak side and that area is a constant source of pain, so maybe something is pinched.
btw - can a spinal issue cause symptoms upwards, in the face and head area?
A little humor before I try sleeping again...
The reason I had to make sure it was one of my funny sensations is bc my daughter likes to sneak her water into bed before. This wasn't the first time I've had that particular sensation... just a little colder this time.
Good night everyone.
Happy new year and thanks for all the good will you share with everyone. Even when you aren't helping me... you're helping me, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels that way.
Well, enough sap for one post, heh? ;)
I get a cold wet feeling on my right foot I can't even begin to tell how crazy it made me feel at first! I even remember taking my shoe off to inspect my sock to make sure my sock wasn't sopping wet. It's a very odd sensation all I can say is I just learned to love with it. Good luck!
Hey, Buff - Spinal lesions always cause symptoms below the level of the lesion, not above. Symptoms in the face and neck are from the brain, perhaps with some neck involvement.
The right side of my face went ice cold about a month ago. My right nostril felt like it was running constantly so naturally my upper lip felt wet. I spent a good month wiping phantom snot from my face. Right now it's not as bad as it was in the beginning, I still feel an altered sensation around my eye, lips and even on the inside of my mouth, but that's it.
