C-sect. vs vag birth

I know exacerbations are common after child-birth for multiple reasons.  Does it make a difference if delivery is C-sect or vaginal.  Also what is the usual amt of time after delivery that an exacerbation occurs, days, weeks or months?
Thanks,
Danni

I agree with everything Sally said. I didn't have symptoms back then when I was having children and I'm not DX currently but I can tell you from experience with both vaginal birth, c-section, then vbac (vaginal birth after c-section), that if you can go vaginal, do it.

It is less stressful on your body and the recovery period is much better at least from my stand point and anything less stressful on your body is better. A c-section is major surgery. Sometimes you have to deliver that way because of circumstances out of your control but if you have a choice I would personally go for the vaginal birth.

I've read that sometimes women who have MS can experience an exacerbation 4-6 months after delivery but it's all individual. Yours could happen sooner or later. It's hard to say when you will.

Hope This Helps

Hi Dannig,

I can't say how soon after a delivery an exaccerbation might occur, however, if it is at all possible and there are no health reasons against this go for a vaginal birth.

These are usually much less stressful for your body and the recovery time is very much faster.

It is important to minimise your stress as much as possible as extreme stress (as occurs during major abdominal surgery - which is what a C-section is) can also by itself exacerbate your condition.

Best wishes, hope all goes well for you. You are the one having a baby?  Let us know.

Some others here will probably post you replies as well.
