Poor upper body strength questions

I have been having trouble rolling over in bed. It seem as though I have to nearly wake up completely and then propel myself over. It's very strange, and not an automatic thing like it should be. Does anyone else have this problem?

I found a test for core muscle strength on the Internet and I couldn't even start it, let alone finish it. I'm not sure, but I think I always test at least OK on the upper body strength tests at the neuros office. But, I'm not sure if they have every tested the torso and chest muscles.

Since I'm still looking for a dx, do you think this is more indicative of something other than MS, or can it go along with MS?

I see my neuro this Thursday. While I have no hopes for a dx at this point, I am hoping to bring up some of these bothersome sx and see about medication or therapy for them. Wish me luck with the appointment. This one will be with the neuro that I saw a few times when I first went to this clinic (I really liked her). Last time, I ended up with another neuro (the first time my DH could come with me) that I couldn't understand. Anyway, DH will be with me and I'm scheduled to see my "regular" neuro. Hopefully, something good will come of it.

Thanks for all of your help.

I just wanted to get back here and tell you all how my appointment went. I did discuss the weakness with my doctor. She thinks It's time to have a Tspine MRI because the weakness combined with the numbness, tingling I'm having around my lower chest could be a sign of a Tspine lesion.  Mary Kay, I have wondered the same thing about it being related to my weight. I asked the neuro and she said that wasn't likely. I'm probably about 20 lbs overweight.

I'm not looking forward to having another test but at least it will be painless. She did say that if I have a lesion there she may go ahead to dx MS as I do have a few lesions in the brain. She does think I have a CNS disorder as most of my sx point to that.

She said it can take up to five years to dx MS. She also mentioned that the Neurology Journals they receive there always have articles about patients who have a variety of sx and finally get a dx. She said that helps them dx some of their harder to figure out patients. Anyway, I'm glad I have her she's so kind and knowledgeable too.

Thanks again for your input.

Hi,

My arms feel very weak, and have for a very long time. Dr. has never told me that anything was wrong.  I do believe there is a write up on the Health Pages, but not sure which one it's in.  Put it this way, they tremble when I carry the milk.

Where MS is concerned, it's moreso the whole disruption in the transmission I believe and the signals that are not getting through properly to the muscles (from the CNS).

There are other causes of muscle weakness, and I hope your Doc is thorough in your eval and finds out what is going on.

Good luck on Thurs,
Be well,
Shelly

Well, there is yet another one of those things that I have ignored...For quite sometime now I have had the same problem, but have chalked it up to being overweight.  I think I have learned to sleep on my left side most of the night.  I wake up to turn on my back and nearly have to sit up to get over to my other side.  I have no answer for us, but it is early in the process for me.  Heaven knows when I will find out why I have the symptoms I have.   What a great place this is!  I learn something new every day and also take comfort in being able to ask about the things that bother me.
Peace,  Mary Kay
