Medical Mumbo

I recently posted with questions regarding MS symptoms, and appreciate all the replies!  My symptoms in the last 15 years (all short lived, no more than 2 months) were numbness on one side of my body many years ago, and double vision for a few days 7 years ago, and recent one sided numbness, followed by electric shock sensations down my back when I bend my neck with skin crawling after I exercise or shower.  I reported before that I had a normal MRI for the double vision, but after now having had an MRI, realize that I had a CAT scan before, not an MRI.  ( I thought I knew what the MRI would be like, but was surprised to realize it would be like being tied in our garage between two amps while my son's band had really bad guitar practice).

I called my GP today, and my MRI was normal, thank GOD!  I am absolutely clueless about health issues.  Does anybody know what other problems could cause these symptoms, if my MRI was normal?  My follow up with my doc isn't for 2 weeks, and I find people input more helpful than anything else.

Thanks!

Tracie

If I learn nothing else from this forum, it's to be more proactive about my doctor's visits.  In the past when I've gone, if they said normal, I guess I was just happy to FINALLY be normal.  I've never thought to ask for copies of reports.  It's ridiculous that I'd feel like my medical records belonged to THEM and not me, I guess.  But for me, having my own medical records would be like holding scrolls of ancient hieroglyphics.  I could never possibly understand a thing on them.  Knowing my doctor, it really might even be stick figure drawings.  Thanks for your help, Amy.

I know it's a couple of weeks before you go, but get a copy of your report when you follow up.  Then post your findings here and you'll get LOTS of help!  Or if you can get it sooner, great.  Love to you, Amy

My MRI was just brain.  I have been reading on here about the spine scans, and questioning if I should have had one, but I figured the double vision would have had to show up on a brain scan if it was MS?  I really don't understand if the lesions are specific to where symptoms occurred?  I don't understand any of it.  I have to admit, our GP seems pretty..incompetent?...but usually more than willing to pass a patient on to a specialist.  I live out in the boonies, and my choices are pretty limited.

Hi,  A couple of questions then a comment.  Was MRI of just brain, or spine (c-spine and t-spine) too?  And can you get a copy of your report?  The reason I ask is that there have been a couple of doctors mentioned on this forum that have stated "everything's normal" (I had one) only to find out the radiologist thought something different.  In my case, I had growing and multiplying lesions, but my neuro classified that as "normal".    (Say what?)  Amy
