numbness

Hello all,
I've been hanging around the site for some time.  I appreciate all of you and the information that is shared.  I was dx in 12/2007 and am on Copaxone.  My symptoms started in 2000 I had continued tingling and burning feet for years, Then it really kicked up again in the summer of 2007.  After dx and Copaxone for 9 months I had a flair, and let it ride out without steroids.  Then 6 months later another flair, my leg was so numb I could hardly walk, but after 6 days I pulled out of it.  I was left with my feet and calves numbish and heavy feeling and very fatigued.  I said all that to say this, my flair was 2 weeks ago.  Today my legs felt real heavy when I woke.  All was ok around the house, I ran to the KMart quick and within 10 minutes of walking around my left leg went "to sleep".  I came home and it's still heavy feeling and tingly.  Is this normal?  I never had stuff come on so fast and so continually.   I'm just hoping for some input on if this happens to anyone else.  Thanks in advance.  karen

Welcome to the forum!  Sorry, during the weekend we're not quite as active.  Just hang in there - we'll get to ya!

Err... um... my experience is that it takes a while to recover from a flare.  In some cases, there may not be complete recovery.  Leg weakness comes and goes with me.  I've had problems with my right leg since 2007.  It's gotten a little better, but my knee still folds on me, and it doesn't have the same amount of sensation that the left one does.  If I overdo it, like I did this weekend, it starts acting up again.  Numb, weak, spastic, etc...

I would say that it's muscular weakness, rather than a spasm or spasticity.  A spasm is when the muscle cramps up and won't let go.  Spasticity is when the muscle feels constantly sore, for no reason.  I've had days when my legs felt weak and so tired!  Like I'd run three miles... but I hadn't done anything that day.  I guess it's because of the lesion in my right cerebellum.

Hi there!

Soooo Sorry!!!!!!!

Sounds like your flare is still there - Especially if you have time inbetween when your legs are not like this. Have you brought this up to the neuro? He or she may bring up a switch in meds if this continues....Did you see improvement w/the steroids?

Were you been? Welcome back...

ttys,

Hello, is anyone there?  I really would appreciate some comments.  After what happend earlier in the day we went for a walk that evening and my leg went to sleep again.  I almost wonder if it is a spasm.  My thigh muscles went all shakey and then it was like someone shot my leg with novacane.  It lasted the entire walk and let up later that evening.  Does this sound like something anyone has had?
