sorry just catching up... been off the computer few days... hope you are feeling better... you are inmy prayers.
GOD bless,
Frann
Thanks so much. I'm trying really hard to be good so I can get better quick. It's really hard now, as this is the time of year my volunteer-aholic phase swings into high gear - "no" is not a word I ever really mastered. So I'm doing what I can when I can then paying for it later (with my spleen, lol). Have been painting giant soccer balls for the high school teams to have on the field for senior recognition (my son graduated in '05, but it's that "no" thing) with the seniors' names and #'s. Girls are done - theirs was last night. Boys are this week - tried to just teach their parents to do them, but ended up bringing them home 'coz I'm so darn persnickity about them. Been doing them for 6 years. At least I can do those sitting down. I also teach confirmation class @ my church. I truly have scaled back this year since I've not been feeling well.
I have to give myself a chance to get better now, though 'coz it gets pretty wild the closer we get to the holidays. Don't like having to use an inhaler at all - especially since I do not have asthma, have never smoked, just don't wanna do it - Lord, I'm a baby=) I am hoping, though that the steroids they gave me for my inflamation in my bronchi will double up and give a break from my buzzing feet!
Hey, how about those Nittany Lions! I was offered tickets for yesterday's game (homecoming, no less), but actually turned them down - afraid I'd end up back in hospital... so I do have SOME common sense afterall!
Thanks for all the well wishes

Hi Penns,
I hope you get some relief soon! I've had that coughing (but I smoke) along w/the bronchitus, and found that although a pain in the arrrrsh, I would fill the sink up w/hot water, let it trickle out, with a towel over my head. When I'd get tired of standing through it all, I would heat up a BIG coffee cup w/hot water and just breath in the steam. It's temporary, but soothing non the less, keeps the spleen in place. . ha/ha. . .
Hope they write you a script for something Q suggests. . .could be something that needs to get knocked out of you so it doesn't snowball into something else. . .

Gosh, I'm sorry you're going through that and I hope you're starting to feel better!!!

Thanks so much for thinking of me. Quix - no, I do not have asthma though my mom did. I do have sinuses from hell, bad environmental allergies (my beloved dogs as one of them) and have had bronchitis or tracheo-bronchitis several times the past few years. I had mentioned to the docs @ CCF that I had tracheo-bronchitis last year coincidentally right before my current symptoms showed up. They did have a pulse ox on me briefly Sunday.
I laid around all day, but had promised to help the high school soccer parents with their senior night stuff this evening - the artsy-fartsy stuff (left that out of my "who are you" post - got art talent from my mom, a woman of every talent). I made it through, but now REALLY need that chicken soup - my hubby is Jewish, maybe he can make the right kind. What a pair we are - the daughter of an ex-nun who's son call "psycho-Christian" and a Jewish man. Been together 21 years - match made in heaven=)
Gonna go chill. Love to all

Hi Penn....sometimes along with the soup, hot chocolate or tea can help suppress a cough.....I have had pneumonia four times in the last two years...i empathize...Craig
Lisa - just a heads up. There are a couple of infections with paroxysmal coughing and sudden wheezing even in non-wheezers (but didn't you tell us you have asthma?) Anyway, Adults DO get Pertusssis and it presents as the mother of all bronchitis'. The other two are Chlamydiae pneumonia (also implicated in triggering MS) and Mycoplasma (known as walking pneumonia). These are best treated with Erythromycin, Biaxin or Zithromax. The 'cillins won't touch them. All three cause an inflammatory component that often requires steroids to resolve. Testing for them is not a bad idea.
Did they check your O2 sat?
Healing thoughts your way. Someday I'll have to tell you guys about the mystique I had in residency where all the other residents and attendings noticed that nobody died when I was on call. I was woefully deficient in experience running codes. I have always believed that I gave out healing emanations. Psychotic? Who knows? Anyway, sending some your way.
Quix
Knock it off! Wait -- I'm afraid you will knock something off or out!
Lay low, girlfriend! The weekend's here. Take care of yourself. Take two bowls of some Jewish chicken soup and post something in the morning.
Feel better!

Hehe no, humour's great! Sometimes it's the only thing that gets you through the day, right? Glad to hear you're feeling a little bit better. How scary!
