One eye closed

My 2 weeks baby boy has one eye closed yet the other is open. The eye has been closed since birth. i has slightly openned about 5 times for a few minutes. What is it so and what should I do to help out?

If your pediatrician hasn't already seen your baby, then you should make an appointment as soon as possible.  By carefully examining your baby, the pediatrician may be able to tell you whether your son's eyes are normal or whether they need to be evaluated by another specialist.

If your pediatrician has already seen your baby but you still think the eye closing is a problem, you may want to call the office to see if the pediatrician can discuss the issue with you again.
