Anybody have any answers or cures yet. I'm starting to suffer the same things..
Hi there,
I have these symptoms and have for at least a year now, but am not on any medications. I don't suffer panic attacks, but am under a bit of stress. I have recently been checked over by an oncologist/haematologist. He commented that my tongue was also very smooth and did the full checks for celiac (sore tongue a symptom of this too). But came up negative for celiac disease.
Six years ago when i was 38 i got a high ANA result of 2560 Homogenous SLE (Lupus) but have never had any symptoms. I thought perhaps the burning tongue, sore shoulders, neck, vice like headache perhaps had something to do with this or another autoimmune disease. They did all my bloods and found nothing - and knock on wood no future symptoms of this awful disease.
I also sometimes get a bit of a sore throat with the tongue and have been very susceptible to colds/infections since tongue started.
The only thing i have noticed is that drinking orange juice or chewing on a vitamin C tablet (just realised my tablets have added zinc and your doctor mentioned that) can make the sore tongue go away. I know i have low iron (20) although recently dropped to 15 despite taking iron tablets for the last two months. Doctors don't like to check for Vitamin C - but i know i had a test 20 years ago and it was very low my doctor at the time was quite baffled.
A sore tongue is in fact a symptom of low iron and iron needs vitamin C for better absorption.
RE: neck, shoulders, head - I have found a bath with either magnesium flakes or epsom salts (same thing) and it relieves it straight away! Moreso than my trips to the chiro, physio, massage therapist or needles.
I am off to see a naturopath next week and some alternative doctors (GPs that also practice holistic medicine). My current theory is that despite taking ample vitamins - that i have a malabsorption problem.
I'm going to get my bloods checked - vit c, iron (again), vit a, vit K, B12, folate, zinc and magnesium levels (although i think the baths are taking care of that?). I think there is either a problem with my gut (leaky gut) or another issue in my digestive system.
I'd like to hear your thoughts on this and how you go with your specialist. Are you low in any vitamins despite taking supplements? Blood test is only way to find out.
Goodluck

My blood pressure is controlled by the Toprol according to my GP. While not perfect, its typically at 128 over 85 while using the Toprol. And I have tested my blood pressure while I have the headaches and its normal. I do feel that my stress levels are very high and would not doubt that stress is definitely a factor. While I have not had Panic Anxiety attacks now for over 7 years, I would not be surprised that muscular tension which I do feel around my neck and shoulders are a factor of the symptoms I feel. I also have very bad posture. My Chiropractor feels that I may have early upper cervical arthritis and suspects that a nerve may be getting pinched causing both the burning tongue sensations and now the neck/head headaches. I will read the link provided by Dr. Simran and take a copy of the responses to my neurologist when I finally can see him. I thank you both for your responses.
Hello Dear,
Studies suggest that approximately 75% of people who report burning tongue (glossodynia) or “Burning Mouth Syndrome” also suffer from headaches, face pain, and other muscle and joint related conditions which we treat.
A headache, which is generally caused due to burning back of tongue, can be easily termed as burning back of tongue headache.
Symptoms of burning mouth syndrome
Headache is one of its symptoms. The condition is closely linked with a metallic or bitter taste in the mouth, which tends to deteriorate with the gradual progression of day.
Some people may even complain of having dry mouth. Your headaches when you have a burning mouth syndrome, which eventually leads to depression and anxiety.

Hi,
There is a possibility that the symptoms of burning tongue and headache are due to extreme anxiety and depression.
Is your blood pressure adequately controlled with your current medication?
I would suggest you to try and cut down stress in your day to day life. You can make a list of all the things that are causing you stress and then see how you can deal best with each one of them. You can also try breathing exercises and meditation if possible.Take care!
