He felthis left leg go numb.He has had periods of numbness and tingling ever since.Once in awhile his groin area (like riding a sadle) feels tingly. His back hurts a little.Sometimes the pain in his leg will stop him in his tracks. He also has lost over 10ibs in the last 2 months. He has had blood work, mri,ct scans, colonoscopy and the upper gi too.All tests show normal. He has also shown some short term memory loss.I seem to be telling him thigs over and over.Sometimes he has a little dribble after he urinates and does not feel like he is going all the way.I just want some clues. He is about to juat forget it. We have seen gastro doctors, neurologist, neurosurgens and spine otrhopedic. There is no one else to see.Thank you.

I would ask for a test for Lyme Disease if I were you.  LD can cause mood disturbance, short term memory problems, urinary symptoms, neuropathy such as tingling and numbness and neuropathic pain.  Symptoms commonly fluctuate on a daily basis.

Was he having numbness or symptoms other than in his thigh?
I have spondylisthesis L5-S1.  Been having a lot of "deep muscle" pain, numbness in thigh and also tingling in toes with pain into my shin.  All on right side of body.
Thank you.

I like to refer to the sympthoms in your husbands leg:  My partner also felt numbness in his thigh sometimes - especially after driving long distances.  It turned out to be a big tumour in his upper leg which pressed on the ischiatic nerve.  First he was treated for "muscle pain" but then an MRI was done and the true reason showed up.

I cannot give a clinical diagnosis over the internet, unfortunately. I do not know what specific tests/MRIs were done but it would be important to look closely at the lower spinal cord with MRI (with and without contrast) and do a spinal tap to examine the CSF for evidence of inflammation or tumor. In some cases up to 3 spinal taps are necesary to fully evaluate for a growth ot tumor cells in the spinal fluid. The problem is more than likely in teh lower spinal or sciatic area but an alternative to consider are focal seizuers causing tingling in that area (although localized pain does not support this), with memory loss and weight loss an MRI of the brain and a careful search for a tumor may eb necessary as has been doen to a certain point already. If some of these have not been done, talk to your neurologist.

Hi I read your post,I noticed your husband has a dull ache in his leg.Funny thing is,if there was something wrong with his back, such as a pinched nerve it would show up on a MRI.Would press neurologist to do more testing on the brain.Sounds like symptoms of a possible stroke that can not be detected.Does your husband have any head aches?Blurry vision, weakness in his arms or hands?Good luck to both of you.I hope they find out what is wrong soon.Raven33

It is hard to say what this is without examining him.   I think it was the right thing to do to get all of those tests.  If the short term memory is not connected (is he on any narcotic medications for pain now? -- those could contribute to short-term memory loss), I'd say look in his back.  However, for completion, I'd have your neurologist get a brain and thoracic spine MRI as well.

Let's see what the CCF-Neuro says to that.
Good luck!

Your history is incomplete.  How old is your husband?  What type of CTs and MRIs has he had?  Brain, lower back, neck?

Did the memory loss start 4 months ago too?   Is he ever symptom free entirely?
