New headaches

Hello,

About three weeks ago I started to have dull headaches and I never get headaches. This is the first time in my life I have had constant headaches. (I am 27/male) Recently they have not been as bad, however on the top right side of my head in one spot I feel pressure, but does not really hurt.

So either I get the dull headaches or pressure spot on my head.

I just want to get your insight on what it could be, of course the fear of something major such as brain tumor etc.. comes to mind as I have never really had headaches in my life.

Thanks

Hello Dr. khan, I got Central Pain Headaches from weaning abruptly off high doses of SSRI and SNRI antidepressants which block Serotonin and other important chemicals which were damaging my normal function of brain chemistry. I been having excruciating headaches with pains on top of my head and the sides which are nerve related. My question is: Is Central Pain reversible after an abrupt wean off very high toxic doses of SSRI/SNRI antidepressants that were taken for 17 long years?. The pain has spread into my ears, neck, face, and mouth. All have strange neurological sensory disturbances as well as my CNS is EXTREMELY agitated and super sensitive it feels like a powerful electricity plant. How do i calm down the CNS to rid my headaches?. Do these head pains subside?. I take powerful Opiods to mask the pain but want a cure not symptom management because i don't want to be a slave of pharmaceuticals and pharmaceutical companies. My Pain Specialist doesn't listen to me and throws me out the door after talking with me for 4 minutes and prescribes me dangerous Central activating drugs. She is a high prescriber and also has many drug reps swarming around her office like bees which they call themselves "friends" and "buddies" which i overheard. She doesn't do any blood tests and brain scans or any thorough work and i been begging for tests to rule out any chronic abnormalities. She seems like a dope peddler in it for money. What kinds of blood tests and brain scans are good to check for chronic debilitating headaches that affect the face, ears, neck, throat, face. I got these pains from damaging psychiatric drugs such as SSR/SNRI use for 17 years i was on, which i was brainwashed to believe it was fixing and re-balancing my faulty diseased brain chemicals (A chemical Imbalance Disease). I was lied and tricked by psychiatrists into believing that fraud and paid the ultimate price with my health. Now my brain chemicals are damaged and can't reverse themselves since the Serotogenic systems are damaged. What can i do, and what hope do i have?. I don't want to be drugged on Narcotics for the rest of my life to cover symptoms. I'm a young person and want life. I was harmed by evil psychiatrists with beady eyes who wanted to control and scare me to take their poisonous drugs to make money and control me. I wasn't aware and knowledgeable at that time and young age. Any advice you can give me to help my chronic headaches would be appreciated. Thank You. I want relief and cure of my chronic headaches. It feels like my cranial nerves are chronically inflamed, infected, or compressed. Can and MRI scan detect these abnormalities with and without contrast?. Thank You.

Thanks for using the forum. I am happy to address your questions, and my answer will be based on the information you provided here. Please make sure you recognize that this forum is for educational purposes only, and it does not substitute for a formal office visit with your doctor.

Without the ability to examine you and obtain a history, I can not tell you what the exact cause of your symptoms is. However I will try to provide you with some useful information.

There are many different kinds of headaches, and each one of them have different characteristics which help us diagnose them as a specific kind. This in turn helps us prescribe appropriate treatment, since they are treated differently.

One of the most common type of headache is a Tension headache. This is usually a dull band like headache around the head or just on the top. It is annoying and nagging, not associated with symptoms like nausea, vomiting, or aversion to light and sound. Usually associated with triggers, like stress in general, at school, work, lack of sleep etc. Usually responds well to over the counter medications however sometimes can convert to chronic daily headaches.

Migraines are usually one sided headaches, associated with nausea, vomiting, and aversion to light and sound. These are usually much more severe, sharp and can be associated with visual flashes, zig zags etc

Also seen in young men, are headaches called cluster headaches ( which you don't seem to have). They usually wake one up in the middle of the night, with sharp stabbing pain in the eye, with tearing, redness and swelling of the eye. They come in clusters for a few days and then one may not have any for months.

Other causes include teeth grinding at night ( usually wake up daily with severe headaches, and pain on pressing down on your temples), sleep apnea ( A sign is bad snoring at night. One may not get enough oxygen during sleep and may wake up with a headache).

Unless you have neurological symptoms like change in vision, numbness, tingling, weakness in one arm or leg more then the other, change in speech etc, we usually don't start worrying about tumors immediately.Of course if you develop any of thes3e mentioned symptoms, you should see a doctor immediately. Many people who have never had headaches all their lives, can develop them later on.

You should see a doctor, preferably a neurologist, not only to come to a correct diagnosis but to also help you with these headaches, as I'm sure they are affecting your quality of life. In your case they may just be tension headaches or chronic daily headaches.

Hope this helps. Good luck!
