I had this half written and accidentally hit the bar and it all disappeared. I will shorten it all. Can restless legs be a beginning symptom for Parkinson? I feel if I could pin point when PD started, I would have a better idea of what stage I am and how long I might have. I know doctors wouldn't tell you that even if they knew, and it seems to me Parkinson keeps you guessing all the time. I began restless legs after my first chemo about 1997. I feel I have deterioated quite a bit the last year. My balance is getting really bad. About a year ago, I stopped sleeping, my neurologist changed me from Mirapex to Carbo/Lev. I walked in my sleep both day and night for a week. My Neu. added Clonazapam. I sleep well, but feel myself getting worse again. Waking earlier, some nights having trouble sleeping. I need to get my house in order before I get to the place I can't walk. Should I begin? Texas Grannie age 75
Hey Percy. I have restless legs, neuropathy, and Parkinson. I wish I knew how to help you. Part of my problem is fatique. I take 2 and 3 naps a day. I preferred Mirapex to neurontin, but it is very expensive. I assume since you also write in the cancer forum you have had chemo. This is one of most likely sources of peripheral neuropathy. Taxol is one of the worse. Yeah, you are like me, loosing weight would probably help. Exercise, believe or not, relieves part of the pain. I dance in the kitchen so I can hold on to the cabinet if I start to fall. I like something a little slow. Anne Murrey has a strong rhythm that is not too fast. I love to dance to hymns. then I can worship at the same time. When I go to bed I exercise my legs as I lie there. Parkinson has stolen my balance. Dr. I did not notice that you were a physician when I started writing. Percy and I have written before. If I have anything wrong, please let us both know. Teaxas Grannie
Hello.
Some treatments for Parkinson's disease can cause peripheral neuropathy. Can you please mention which medicines you are taking ?
You may consider consulting the neurologist again for a possible spine problem. But this can best be ruled out by an MRI of the spine.
Losing weight may help correct the metabolism in the body.
Yeas, the neuropathy is causing the white and numb fingertips.
