Question regarding pain

Hello. I am a 21 year old healthy female with no health concerns. About 3 months ago, I was driving and got a sharp shooting pain on the right side of my head. It went away after about a minute, but the pain was so bad I had to pull over. Since then, it has happened 3 times. Recently, I have noticed that my right forearm feels as if it is burning on the inside, but it is not hot to the touch. I was just wondering if anyone had any idea as to what is going on, and if it is worth going to the dr. Thank you!

Thank you so much for your quick response! Lack of sleep could very well be the problem. I have a 9 month old son, and we are currently staying with my mom so stress is also a factor. I will have to contact my dr. to make sure. Thank you again!

Hi there.

There can be several causes for this.  A major factor contributing to this is stress and lack of rest.  This usually heightens one perception of pain.  There is a condition called myofascial pain synrome which presents with unilateral head, shoulders and arm pain with no identifiable cause.  Another is the possibility of compressed nerves possibly because of some bone or spine abnormalities.  Primary nerve changes brought about by micronutrient deficiency (vitamin B) can also cause this kind of pain.  As there are a lot of possibilities, a consult to your physician is warranted to pinpoint the problem.

Until then, make sure you have adequate rest and avoid too much stress.

Take care and God bless.
