Second MRI in a 8 days

Second MRI in a 8 days

My ct scan was normal, my MRI was abnormal. Found thickening of the meninges. They did a csf and said my results were border line normal. I do not know what are the actuall results but I know that in 2 tubes, one had 4 counts of white blood cells and the other had 6. I been having these pains for 2 months now. I just had this csf less then a week now. I do have beckers muscular distrophy. I was taking indomethacin 50mg for about 2 weeks. It help a little but still getting some pains around the right eye and head. Some days worse then ever. I do sleep at night, the pain doesnt wake me up. I was talking to my doctor after seeing a neuroligist. I am waiting for to see a neurosurgeon. My doctor told me that most likely  I will need a biopsy of the lining. I am consfused because he told me inflamation (inflammation) and thickening is the same thing. Can't this thickening be from an old injury? Last couple of days neck hurts and lower back is sore, not sure if its from me laying down too much or sleeping in. scared as hell. Had a secont mri, found the same thing. they are not sure if it is an old injury or of any change. They want me to wait 2 months and have another mri. They do not want to make a biopsy of the lining at this time.

Hi there.

These findings are somewhat unlikely due to former injury.  From what you have described, I believe that we are dealing with some form of inflammation to the meninges (some form of miningitis), though the exact cause or nature of this inflammation still needs to be elucidated.

The procedure that your doctor is planning, the biopsy of the meninges, will hopefully give us this answer.  However, all the risks of the procedures should be discussed well with you and make sure you understand and accept.

Due to the invasiveness of this procedure, I believe it is also best to monitor this finding through serial MRI's.  Just make sure to keep in close contact with your doctors and have them know anything that changes in your symptoms.

Regards.

if there is still no change in 2 months, what will that tell you? I have muscular  distrophy, evey time I get up no my right I feel a pain  about my right eyebrow. I wonder if I lifted something awkward when I was squatting doing some gardening before this all started.wonder if it can be a frontalis muscle strain or around that area. Indomethacin helped to get elevate that pain in that area. Now the medecine is finished it is coming back.
