Tonsillar Ectopia and headaches

Hi!  I posted this in the Expert Forum, but decided to post here, as well, in case someone has any suggestions. Thanks!

I have 24/7 headaches.  They began after a CSF leak. Within a few weeks of the initial CSF leak, I had 2 different Blood Patches, but the headaches remained, although not as severe.  Years later, still having 24/7 headaches, I have another MRI. This MRI showed "Tonsillar Ectopia less than 3mm". Prior MRI's showed nothing.  Is it possible that the slight herniation is causing my daily headaches?  I never had headaches prior to the CSF leak.  But, I've had them ever since.

My initial CSF leak was caused during my epidural (C-Section).  I have a few members of my family (cousins) that have Chiari, so I will check out the other forum.  Thanks so much for the info!!

Hi...yes it is possible that a change in CSF flow will affect not only HA's but the cerebral tonsils.
The fact that they r only herniated 3mm's is not really an issue...the question is r they obstructing CSF flow? If so, u will need to see a NS that specializes in Chiari....we do have a forum for those with these issues here on MedHelp-http://www.medhelp.org/forums/Chiari-Malformation/show/257?camp=msc

May I ask, what caused ur initial CSF leak?
