Unsure of

To start things off before I ask my question here is some basic outline information:

Male.

22-years-old.

5’10”

220 pounds. (I found that my food intake was really low and that my body was storing everything I ate, I have since changed my food intake and have begun to lose some weight).

Suffer from Neuralgia in my upper back; left-sided.

Medications: Was prescribed Gralise for Neuralgia but stopped taking it due to lack of efficacy several months ago. No other medications are currently being taken.

----------------------------

As of the last few weeks at random times (I could be standing or sitting [it has yet to happen whilst laying down but that may have something to do with the fact that the only time I lay down is right before I go to sleep]) I will have a sensation of dizziness and at some points it is associated with vertigo.

When it first began to happen I thought it may have been a one time ordeal from me making a turn around the counter (I was walking into the kitchen from the living room) too fast, however as time has continued it would seem that it is getting more frequent and will sometimes also be associated with a slight state of confusion.

I am a transcriptionist which means I do quite a bit of typing and when I come home I do a lot of PC gaming (it is a hobby), but I have noticed that while typing (or playing it comes on at random) I will suddenly get that “dizzy” feeling and then forget what I was typing (or simple placement of letters on the keyboard) or where I was going (if playing a game). As far as forgetting what I will be doing in reality, I have once gone into the kitchen to get a drink, felt the sensation (with vertigo [the room seem to spin horizontally]), caught myself and could not remember why I walked in there. The only reason I was able to recall it was because my fiancée reminded me when I asked out loud what I was in there for.

It has never been to the point that I felt as if I was going to completely fall over, however I have come near that point twice as far as I can remember (the times it was associated with vertigo I could almost feel the floor move from underneath me it seemed – almost like I was tipping over but I was nailed to the floor in the sense that I moved my upper body to “keep my balance” but moving my feet was not necessary).

Addendum Note: I was assaulted in February and though I did not receive immediate medical attention, my fiancée forced me to go ?two? days after the incident because I still felt nauseous and she wanted to make sure I had not suffered a concussion. I went to the ER, was placed on the “fast track”, had a scan done (unsure of what type and of which I never saw the results to), saw a doctor (who swore at two nurses outside before seeing me), walked in; looked me over and said “you should be fine, you just feel crummy”. I didn’t even have the opportunity to mention that when assaulted I took several blows to the back of the head (I can’t remember how many times I was struck but if I had to guess it would be no less than 14) before he took me off the “fast track” at which point I was then set out of a room and onto a gurney that was in a hallway at the ER. I sat there for a few hours but no one came to see me and seeing as how I had to get ready to leave the next morning I left. I never received a phone call about my results, I simply had a bill sent to home for five thousand dollars (that I do not intend to pay seeing as how full care was not provided and I was not given an answer of any sort). I am not entirely sure if this could be a long term problem deriving from the assault in February.

I thank you in advance for reading I do apologize for any errors I may have made.

Addendum Note: I had also considered this might have something to do with my new glasses, however it has occurred at times I was not wearing them. Could it possibly affect me in this way without the wearing of my glasses?

This has also at one point (last night) been associated with mild chest pain, however I believed it to be heartburn (had pizza earlier that evening).

So in short, what could this be?

I'll have to get some free time (I can't afford to miss work) and visit the ER.

I also exercise 5 days a week (interval running), but I'll see if cutting back the time in front of a monitor helps. This is actually the first time I've been on a computer since I posted the original inquiry haha.

Hi. That's a lot to sort out.  Best thing to do is to see a doctor who can get copies of your scan from the ER.  It may or may not be related.  You'll need a basic physical examination and further testing to determine a cause of the vertigo.

One thought, you are probably sitting a lot with transcribing and video games.  Maybe try spending less time sitting and more walking or something.  Your eyes are probably on overload.

Good luck and keep us posted.
