is MS more likely now

Apologies to trouble you again.  I posted some time ago as i have been given a diagnosis of possible MS.  Last feb i had funny episode that necessitated a 2 week stay in hospital with left sided weakness and optic neuritis.  Despite intesive physio some residual weakness remains.  MRI was normal, Visual evoked potentials showed demyelination and when repeated 4 months later the P100 latency was more prolonged. LP was mildly reactive but not oligoclonal.

since then i have had another bout of optic neuritis this time in the right eye and have also got internuclear ophthalmoplegia i am wearing a fresnel prism to correct the diplopia.  I saw my neurologist a little while ago and he said he still cannot confirm MS just yet , that he wants to repeat the MRI next feb and in the mean time i have to see a neuro opthamologist.  I have had urodynamics that show i have a neurogenic bladder and need to self catheterise.  I am quite frankly concerned about whether treatment should be started to halt whatever is happening.

I am a nurse in the ER and have had to change jobs to a managerial one because i physically cant manage it anymore.i also have a young baby and i just worry a little about what the future holds.

Do you think it is more likely that i have MS

regards
Clodagh

I don't think you have MS but I do think your body is telling you it needs help.  I pray you find real answers and help.  You work around a lot of stress and chemicals.  Try detoxing but be ready because it won't be easy.  Unburden your body and help it heal itself.

Without examining you I cannot determine if you have MS. However, given the new symptoms it would be reasonable to have another MRI of the brain, and the cervical and thoracic spines to look for disease activity. If new activity is detected, then treatment may need to be initiated. Perhaps a consultation with a MS specialist would be reasonable. MS specialists evaluate patients for this concern everyday, and if MS is excluded, then another cause will need to be determined. Good luck.
