odd, we all seem to get cysts somewhere. I have been dealing with pain in my front thigh for 6 years. About 6 months ago I had surgery in my proximal femur in that same leg because of a cyst in the bone. Strange. The pain, still there. I am still looking into what could possibly be wrong. I know it's definately nerve damage but where exactly?
Hi there. Spinal cysts can be arachnoid, synovial etc and can occur at any age or any spinal level. Symptoms vary widely and include waxing and waning pain and spastic or flaccid paraparesis. Most spinal arachnoid cysts are asymptomatic and diagnosed accidentally on MRI. MRI helps differentiate these from abscesses and tumors. Symptomatic cysts should be surgically resected, if complete resection not possible, fenestrate the cyst wall and drain. An asymptomatic spinal arachnoid cyst should be followed every year with serial imaging.
The lumbar intervertebral disc prolapse could be causing low backache and neurological symptoms of nerve compression like sciatica and tingling and numbness in leg or thigh. Depending on the degree of limitation of activity, surgical decompression is considered after painkillers don’t offer much respite.
Take care.
It is hard to answer your questions without the findings typed out, but this can mean many things. Depending in the type of cyst's you have will determine the course of treatment if any is needed, some people have asymptomatic cysts. You will have to discuss it with your doctor on rather it is or isnt causing issues. Im also not sure what you mean be disks out...this is Unfortunitly too vague but if you can type your findings out, I can try to help more.. If you don't have your mri report, I recommend getting it. Try to not worry about it too much right now, some things are out of our control and you just have to let it go until the time is right. Good luck stacey
