wavy vision

I am a 29 year old female, I was shopping with my mom when out of the blue my vision was distorted as if I am trying to look thru water.  I could only focus on one specific thing.  My perifial vision is gone and everything on the left side it appears wavy (similar to water). Also the only thing I could see in the lower part of the eye was black  I had a headache when this happen,on my right side. My left hand also started to go numb and feel really heavy.It lasted about 35 mins or so.I had no warning when this will happen.

I have had this same thing happen to me 4 times now,really scary stuff,the second time I was driving when it happened,that was 3 months ago,today it happened again,twice.I never even considered migraines.

I have had a wavy floor.  See a neurologist.  If a member of your extended family has migranes that could be the cause.  Epilepsy drugs and bezodiazipine drugs can cause this.   Temporal lobe epilepsy and migranes in any member of the extended family can cause what is known as Alice inWonderland syndrome.  Good luck

Hi there.

From what you have described I suggest you have yourself formally evaluated by a your doctor (or a neurologist).  This can have so many causes such as fall in blood sugar, fall in blood pressure, migraine with aura, primary eye problems, or primary neural problem.  Your doctor can request tests like formal field of vision testing so that he can objectively tell if you have visual field defects.
