weakness and strange sensations

im a 32 year old male x professional athlete and bodybuilder. 20 months ago i suffered from mercury poisoning from eating an absurd amount of seafood. at the same time i was suffering from mono. once all that cleared up i felt somewhat better for a few months and gradually as of late im getting worse. my doctor blames it on depression and anxiety but i know my body and know its something more than that. ive had problems sleeping and had a sleep study done a few days ago. even if i sleep 7 hours i wake up feeling wiped out and yawn uncontrolably all day. i also get brain fog. have trouble thinking, talking, stutter, mix words in sentences and have poor memory. my tongue at times feels numb or swelled. i get so tired i feel like i could fall down. when i try and work out my strength is down and ive lost muscle size. also some times when i lift i get dizzy and have a burning in my left neck area almost a throb. i get strange sensations in my arms and legs feelings of being numb or heavy. it seems to come and go.i can just tell something is not as it should be at all. ive had a brain mri done which showed nothing and now its back to nerves and depression as the cause but its so much more than that. any ideas?  could it even be circulation or heart related?thank you

Did you measure it as it was eliminated?  How do you know it was eliminated and not stored?  I encourage you to do lots of research on mercury toxicity.  I have it as well and I know several people who have symptoms like you and are showing elevated mercury levels.  It has been very difficult to remove for everyone I know.  That is why I am concerned about you.

I understand your problem with left neck sensation. I have had tightness in my lower neck, sometime twinges of pain, feels like a thickening almost. I feel it sometimes on the right side of my neck also.I have upper Herpes and have had bouts of Ramsay Hunt Syndrome in the past. The doctor has ruled out vascular and lymph node illnesses. I have had this neck tightness (minor pain) since November 2004. The nurologist said it was psychosamatic. WHICH IT IS NOT !!!!!!!!!!! For the last few days the feeling has moved to the back of my neck and up part ways up my head. It is not painful just irritating and weird feeling. Hope it helps to know you are not alone out there.

You are predominately describing the Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or more probably the CFIDS version, as the immune system may be autoimmune.

The chemical that could cause this, and would not be suspected of it ... is 2-butoxyethanol.  It causes all of these things all by itself.

The fatigue you describe is the fatigue which the doctors do not know what it is.  The red blood cells become immature and fool the regular blood work on several points.  You must ask the doctor whether or not you have blood in urine and whether or not your red blood cells are immature.  Check what is going on with your immune system. and check for autoimmune hemolytic anemia.  That would be the fatigue and that would be the common denominator.  After that the symptoms fan out and you have a lot of odd symptoms ... most particularly brain fog, and other neurolgoical problems... but these are 2ndary to the fatigue

How many of this 'package of symptoms' do you have?

I can relate to some of the symptoms you describe like the brain fog, yawning, tiredness ,dizziness, weakness and difficulty concentrating but I also have eye soreness, photophobia and headaches.  I too find that the brain fog sensation is temporarily relieved by playing sport.  I have had numerous tests(blood, MRI etc) with the latest thinking that I am suffering from a chronic migraine variant.  I have difficulty accepting this diagnosis as what I am feeling is certainly different from previous migraine/headache episodes I have had.  I am usually active, play a lot of sport but now find I have little energy and am always tired.  If you find a cause please post a reply as it may also help me.

Hey, long story about my experience with mercury and simular symptoms...First, mono is a form of a herpe virus and or closely related to Epstien Barr Virus. Most people have the antibodies...however mercury has one effect of weakening the immune system and can allow a virus to run rampant. The ability of EBV and herpe viruses to attack the immune dna and substitute its own can make it difficult for your body to fight it off. Dont mean to depress you, but check the symptoms of mercury poisoning.  Dams website..Believe me it will not detox easily! A blood test for active EBV virus would probably show positive. If you detox the mercury, your immune system may be able to fight it. Other wise it can become a reoccurring virus lasting 8 to 12 weeks at a time, feels like mono. The blood test is expensive..and there is no cure for it but my doc put me on high doses of valtrex (herpe)medicine and it helps. I have had the virus for 18 years, I know it was all the mercury fillings I had. I can give you a referral to a physician who can help you. Stop eating any fish for now! There is detox protocol..Dont let a dentist put any into your teeth either. You have a good chance of beating it...you have got to do the work..Dont let them tell you that its in your head. Its a common virus...the mercury is just the catalyst it needs to multiply. Take care.

my mercury level has been normal for a year now. i just drank lots of water and waited for it to be eliminated. i went to the sleep specialist yesterday and was told its all in my head and see a phyciatrist. the only time the brain fog lifts is when i exercise and go run around or something i feel better while im doing it and for a short while afterwards. this is frustrating. i hate feeling spaced out.

Once the mono and mercury poisoning cleared and you returned to normality it would be highly unusual for either of these problems to be causing recurrent problems.

Therefore your symptoms may be caused by something else. Unfortunately I cannot give you a clinical diagnosis over the internet. While it is encouraging that you initial testing and MRI are normal, I realise you are anxious about what the symptoms are from. Depression could cause all of your symptoms (and a consultation with a good psychiatrist should be obtained), but other causes would need to be excluded such as endocrinological problems (thyroid, diabetes etc), metabolic problems (electrolytes), or peripheral nerve problems (neuropathy, Vitamin B deficiency). Yawning, tongue symptoms, and numbess could localise to the cerivcomedullary juntion (junction between the brain and the spinal cord) but this should have been evaluated by the MRI.

It does not appear from your symptoms that they are primary vascular or heart related problems.
Good luck

How did you get rid of the mercury?  I have that same problem and am trying to chelate it out naturally.  It sounds like you still have a mercury problem.
