I am always Worried

Hi,
I recently had a HIV test (6 Weeks) and it was 'NOT Reactive'. I dont even re-collect if I had any symptoms. But now even after the test, I am always worried. This worriedness has made me restless, sometimes I feel I have slight fever, and I stay dull.

Also, just to give a history, I keep thinking on something for a long time and keep getting worried. If today it's not HIV I would be thinking of something else..

Is this OCD?? when ever I am thinking, I only think negetive, like for HIV I am thinking... what will happen to me, my family etc... If its not HIV, I keep thinking, will my job be ok.. will I be happy.. Will I live long enough... etc...

I am writing to seek advice, could someone please guide me if there is something wrong or this is just normal.

Please Advice and help.

Or I should say symptoms resemble so many other things, less then 1% who experience them, truly have them related to hiv

He had protected sex. No Risk as you were told. I wouldn't say "MOST" people don't experience symptoms either. But in your case, you're just fine! I too had a no risk encounter [receiving oral], and tested neg. My OCD is so bad I even went as far to think the nurse didnt use clean needles. I now realize this is crazy, but thats how OCD is.

First of all, why did you get tested in the first place? That might shed some light on whether you have had a real exposure or an irrational one. By the way, symptoms are not a good guideline to follow in guessing whether or not you have HIV since most people experience none.

You see my nickname is worrier. I worry a lot. I used to worry a whole lot more. I have some OCD but what is causing my worriness is called generalized anxiety disorder.

So I think your problem is the same. When you worry constatly about different things its most likely anxiety. If you were worried about the same thing then it could be more of OCD.

Therapy and medications help. But try therapy first.
