Really Bad Ankle, Shin and Knee Pain

Hello, I've just turned 18 today and I have been experiencing really bad ankle, shin and knee pain for a good while now. I have sprained both ankles twice with the most recent ankle being sprained on the inside part of it. I have been diagnosed with Fibromylagia and I believe that I have Hypermobile joints, in where you are a lot more flexible than normal. I was wondering if anyone knows what might be causing all of this pain, because I believe that it is far worse than just Fibromylagia. My feet seem to becoming flat and I have such severe ankle and knee pain that it keeps me awake at night sometimes. I don't know if this is of any concern, but my bones crack really loud and most of the time, really sharp pain shoots through the area that cracked. I am going to try to schedule an appointment with an Orthopedic doctor as soon as possible, but any tips/info would be greatly appreciated! :) If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me. Thanks! :)

Hi there

Sounds to me like you dislocated your ankle.  You definately need to see a joint specialist and be evaluated for hypermobility.  It is very possible that you have injured/torn some of your ligements/tendons.

Joint cracking can be very common with people whom has loose/hyper mobile joints.  Ask me...I know...heh.  I have Marfan's, which is a connective tissue disorder, causing loose joints.  I have dislocated my knees so many times, I can't even recall any more.

Good luck and let me know how it goes!

I forgot to mention that when I have had my most recent sprain that has injured my inside part of my ankle, I was playing Basketball and landed on the ground wrong. I twisted my right foot completely to the right with a loud popping sound.
