I just got this diagnosed and the  gave me a steroid shot in the inflammed area ...the dr also gave me a script for celebrex to keep inflammation down.....i really don't feel like taking these pills because of side effects....would it really be bad for the healing if i don't take them?

Hi,
How are you feeling?
I think the doctor has it in his mind the side effects of the drug before prescribing it to you.
Celebrex is non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug.
Celebrex works by reducing Prostaglandin's in the circulation which cause inflammation and pain in the body.
I think the beneficial effects of the drug outweigh its side effects.
It’s nice that you are aware of side effects, as noticing anyone of them; you should consult the doctor back.
Keep me informed if you have any queries.
Bye.

I have the same problem with my shoulder and did the steroid injection and am on celebrex.  I completely understand your fears. I also didnt want to take the celebrex at first because of the scary side effects but in the end the benefits out weigh the risks.  You need an antiinflammatory to speed the healing.  It won't be needed long term.
