mass in ovary

i have been suffering with pelvic pain and irregular periods for around 5-6 mths, my doc sent me to have an ultrasound scan and it showed that my left ovary is a lot larger than my right and i have a solid spherical area within the ovary.could this just be a cyst? or something worse

Hi There,
The actual size of your ovary and the details of the ultrasound report are really important. Other important information includes:
your age
past history of cancer
past history of surgery
past history of infertility, endometriosis
family history of cancer.
If you are able to supply that information, I would be happy to comment on the ultrasound report
best wishes

the size of the ovary is 4.3+2.5+3.5 i have been sterilised, as far as i know there is no history of cancer in my family. There is free fluid in the pod and thickening of the endometrial.

Hi there,
You should ask your doctor about further evalaution which includes a D&C to evaluate the lining of your uterus and also a laparoscopy with biopsy or removal; of the cyst.

i spoke to my doc and he sent me for another scan which said i have a 6mm endometrium present. a small amount of fluid seen along the posterior aspect of uterus and p.o.d the left ovary has a central echobright as mentioned previously questionable nature. numerous small follicular cysts seen in both ovaries. what do you think i should ask my doc when i see him i am unsure.
