Went to the family Dr. 2 weeks ago because of a abdominal pain and constipation. After some questions and general physical checks she sent me to the hospital to have a ultrasound done of the abdominal. The ultrasound showed a large ovarian cyst and she referred me and sent my results to my gynecologists. My gynecologist made an immediate appointment to come into the office. After getting at the office
he gave me a general related exam and said he could not feel the area from the ultrasound. He ordered a vaginal ultrasound which then revealed what he says is a 13 cm mass. After the discovery of this mass the entire demeanor of the visit changed and I was disappointed to find out that he is now referring me to a gynecologists oncologist. Not allot of info was given beyond this point. He said he was concerned because 2 yrs ago (April 2004) when he completed my hysterectomy the ovaries were fine. Had the hysterectomy because of fibroids and the related difficulties with the fibroids. I'm 44 yrs. old w/3 children and worried. No insurance and have been referred to Aultman Hospital in Canton, OH which is a learning hospital and has a clinic that my Dr. said can handle this just fine. Is there hope in all this? It has brought our lives to a screeching halt. Thank You for your time.
