Dear Mae1
Your doctor is doing all the right things. It makes sense to try the pill first before removing the ovary. It is usually possible to preserve normal ovarian tissue unless the cyst is replacing the ovary or is malignant. Please let us know what happens take care
Dear Dinkyd,
It makes sense to try to suppress the ovaries with the pill. Another option is using lupron which puts you into artificial menopause. You should ask your doctor about that. If ovarian cyst are not related to ovulation, the pill may not help although for some women with endometriosis, the pill or lupron does help. Sometimes, it is important to remove the cyst surgically because they are not shrinking or they are causing pain.
best wishes
I have a question.just joined this site yesterday.Went to the doctor after having severe pain again. This is the thired time in less than a year. And occasionally I have pain but
was thinking I had gas build up and constipated. But I have a cyst 6cm on my left ovary again and very small one on the other side.My question is why do they keep coming back. I go back on Monday to be rechecked. My doctor says we might have to try the pill and if if don't work then surgey.I'm 35years old and have 3 kids. This worrys me so bad.Nov.2007 had the same problems at my annual visit but he didn't think to check me for this again so the pain I was having and bloating like 5mths preg. had to be the same thing. And the first time was in March 2007 it was so bad i passed out my husband took me to er.Also I am very sensitive not a whole lot I can take or use usually have a reaction to alot of stuff. All this started in the last 7 or 8 years.Why..Why..
