Abnormal periods for 1 year, u/s with bilateral cysts on ovaries, submucosal fibroid and fibroid, small fluid collection in pelvic cul-de-sac

Hi I am 40 year old who has started having longer and heavier periods for about 1 year. Blood is very thin and watery, very heavy with clots. Pap was normal, had U/s showed bilateral Ovarian cysts, 2 fibroids and a small fluid collection in the pelvic cul-de-sac. I have lots of bloating, gas constipation,and pressure to urinate all day. My mother had uterine cancer at age 29 and had a hysterectomy. Do you think i could have cancer?

Hi There
it is common to develop irregular  bleeding in your forties.

Reasons for irregular menstrual cycles include:
-not ovulating and therefore having excess estrogen and not enough progesterone
-other hormonal imbalances such as thyroid or an excess of the milk hormone, prolactin
-fibroids which cause heavier periods but not bleeding in between periods
-benign polyps of the cervix and uterus
-cervical or vaginal cancer
-endometrial cancer
-a bleeding disorder either from taking an anticoagulant like warfarin or due to illness such as leukemia

the work up includes
pelvic exam
pap smear
endometrial biopsy
possibly a Dilation and curettage with hysteroscopy
an ultrasound
blood work

so you should see your doctor for a good evaluation

I have had pap, that was normal. Had u/s which showed fibroids and ovarian cysts and fluid in pelvic cul-de-sac. Grand mother had leukemia. 1st went to dr months aga because I was soo fatigued. My iron was really low have been on iron pills for 5 months and HGB IS AT 10.I need help I'm tired of being tired. I see ob gyn for f/u next week regarding ultrasound. What do you think? Am I just pre menapausal
