My experience

I just got home last night from a 4 day stay in the hospital.  I had my ovary, and uterus removed.  Had other ovary removed back in April.  The doctor found endometrios this time around,  I had 3 cysts removed.  My doctor said they were hemorrahagic (sp?) but they were sent off to pathology. He honestly believed there was no cancer there.  Uterus was doubled in size from fibroids.  Anyway, with this surgery he used a "glue" not sure of the name.  It didn't hold for me and I began to bleed horribly from one of the incisions.  He patched it up, but it blew again and shot across the room.  I was rushed back to OR, had another 3 hour surgery, but he found the problem and stiched me up good and strong.  Caused a huge drop in my blood count.  I came very close to a blood transfusion.  I am now anemic, in horrible pain, but so thankful to home.  It was quite the ordeal.  I had horrible nausea (dry heaves) and headaches for 3 days.  By the time I left late last night we finally found a good combination of meds to help.  I'm very weak, from the anemia, but do feel so much better now than I did 3 days ago.  Really a tough surgery for me this time around, but am thankful to be on the road to recovery.

Hope all the other surgeries have gone well and you all are recovering well at home.

Aretta

Glad you are home. I just got home yesterday myself. I too had an ordeal. But it is good to be home in your own bed! Take care of your self. I will be thinking of you often.

Recovery is so much better at home.  I felt so much better after I got home and didn't have the technicians coming in every hour on the hour "Time to check your vitals:)"!

I had the nausea with the dry heeving too, it was so painful!!

Good luck with your recovery, and like I said being home helps.

I am so sorry that you have had such a difficult time.  I'm glad you are home and feeling better.  Take it easy and let your family pamper you.  Let you body have time to heal and don't rush things.

The worst should be behind you now.

Thanks for sharing your experience.  Anemia sure does wipe you out and it can take a little while to build back your store of iron.  Try to eat healthy and you can get natural sources from raisins, spinach, sweet potatoes, and molasses.  So enjoy some gingersnaps this holiday.  Iron supplements can be hard on you and timing them right for your body and taking them with a Vitamin C source like orange juice helps with absorption.  Hope you have a speedy recovery.

Take care of yourself over the next few weeks to build your hct back up.  Glad you're home as there's no place like home to feel better and recover.  Sorry you had such a terrible time and happy they figured out the problem and got you back in the or.  Have a happy holiday season.
