*****CYBER PARTY****1ST ANNIVERSARY**********

Greetings and Welcome to Cyber Party 1st Anniversary!
The first Cyber Party evolved out of a thread I started called "Storm Watch" becuase a major winter storm was moving from the Rockies over the Midwest and onto the East coast.  I was in Arlington VA where there was 10 inches of snow at the time. We were all comparing notes on the conditions and such when the conversation went on to getting to know each other beyond the medical issues that brought us all here.  I continue the Cyber Parties on Saturdays when I can and have been looking forward to this one.  It has been quite a year Cysters! As always, tell us where you hale from and anything else about yourself you'd like. Tell what virtual vittle you have brought to share and put it on the table over by the virtual hot tub (we will have a soak later when the Cyber Bar opens)
      Katie and Paula both sent ideas for topics to get us started.  Paula says the four places she would like to be right now are;
1. Jamaica
2. Cozamel
3.  Hawaii
4. at a beach where it is warm

Cozumel would be my #1 and DH & I are off for some serious scuba there in a couple of weeks!

Katie from Canada wants to know what everyones wore for their wedding/s.  Like me, Katie has worn two, here is her answer...

my "first" one was .... God can you believe it.... polyester!!!!  What the heck was I thinking.  But it was very pretty.  sleeveless.  I wore long fingerless gloves.
my SECOND one...  the one that took!  LOL   .... I got married in a fushcia Land's End Tshirt and yoga pants in Maui!!!!  And it was even kinda dirty!!! Couldn't have cared less what I was wearing!!!
Katie

My first was polyester off a sale rack too.  The one I wore when I married my Hero, Frank, is tea-length in ivory lace also sleeveles but with a bit more lace cascading over each shoulder.  We were married in July in our own Back-Yard under the oaks.  I also wore a hat with lace that draped down the back.  But the best was not what I was wearing, but what Frank wore.  He said he was going to wear his black suit even though he knew I wanted him to wear his dress uniform complete with his green beret.  He had the black suit on when I went upstairs to get ready but when I came outside to the wedding march on my Dad's arm, there he was waiting for me under the flower laden arch in his uniform.  We both cried!  I will never forget it!

Looking forward to hearing from everyone!  IT has been a tough week and I think we could all stand some relaxation!  MV

Well at last I get to join the party at the begining instead of the end.

Wore a white wedding dress at my first, very plain but pretty. When I had changed into my going away outfit my nephew wanted to know where the princess had gone - sweet.  My second and last!  I wore a pink suit and hubby wore a polo neck instead of a shirt!  It couldn't have been more different from the first, just a few friends and family and we spent our honeymoon in Lyme Regis - gorgeous.  The drive down was a hoot with lots of cars beeping it was only when we looked at the car later that we noticed instead of Just Married it was Just Marred.

I'm snuggled up in bed, trying to finish my book.  Love to you all.  Enjoy the party.

Hi, Cannot help but start this out noting I am still trying to get used to this new format. I have to enlarge the screen so that everything stops going over to the right.....grrr. Aren't you glad I stopped by the party? Nice way to start, huh? But, c'mon, on the VERY off chance that someone would show up on my buddy list and actully IM me....well, I cannot see the buddy list now. Shall I stop, Mary? ok.

I was born in Washington DC and raised in Silver Spring, MD. I moved to Minnesota, actually came here for college and stayed. I live about five miles from RavenLady. Way cool!!!

I could go for a trip to a Maryland beach right about now. Of course, I would need warm weather for that (and a plane ticket).

Great question on the dress issue. After dating for four years, Jed and I made it a quick engagement and then married in a church but had the reception in his parent's back yard on the lake. It was a perfect June day.

I supported myself after college, had lost my Dad when I was 20, and my sweet Mother sent me $450.00 to go towards the wedding. I was just 27 when I got married. I made the mistake of trying on a $400.00 dress and I made myself take it off, drolling the whole time. It was gorgeous!

This was back in 1980...at this point I was fearful of being in dept. So, I went to JCPenneys(do  you have those stores in Canada, Katie?) and found a bridesmaid's dress for $65.00 and I ordered it in White. I wore my husband,s Mother's juliet lace cap (she was married in 1939 to Jed's Dad) with a newer white veil. I wore that for the church...and then I put a flower in my hair for the reception. I will always be grateful for the kind people at Penneys who seemed to understand my situation and were so supportive. We had 75 people at the wedding and had a ball.

I found this site about three years ago when I was hunting for a place to sort out my feelings and thoughts about the Ovarian Cancer diagnosis that resulted in my radical hysterectomy in Sept. 2000. Exploratory lap found the malignant cyst and no more cancer was found during the hysterectomy, but I, to this day, marvel at all of the events that led to this and of course, stunned that it was caught so early. I am a huge advocate for women's health and the right to be informed and not brushed off by well-meaning, but at times aloof, professionals.

I stick around for hormone questions and concerns (Bio's only as far as I am concerned...could not have made it without them) and of course, adhesion questions and body rolling. I think I missed a question a few days back...help me out, Mare, I think you were looking for me for someone who had an adhesion question.

Oh, I brought gin and tonics. Lime, of course! (Limie flavored Doritos sound good, too. I will run out for some for the party. Enjoy!

Mary

Oh Mary...I just laughed out loud at limie flavored Doritos!!  LOL!!!  Interesting flavor combination going there!

I wanted to stop by quickly before going out tonight.  Friend and I are going to a college basketball game.

My wedding was 5 years ago...one month after September 11.  My Australian hubby moved to the US a month before we got married, and because his family was a bit scared of flying at that time, no one from his side of the family came.  I felt bad about that, but he was accepted into my family and group of friends, so he had just as much support as I did.  I wore a white sleeveless gown with a high neck.  It also had a chapel lenght train.   It was covered with lace and pearl buttons, with just a few sequins across the top.  The back was closed with about 50 pearl buttons and had a bow that ran down the entire length of the train.  Funny thing...when I went to the shop to try on dresses, it was the first one I put on.  I tried on several more, but always came back to that one.  Nothing like a wedding dress to make you feel beautiful!!  I still have it, and will always keep it, but since I have no children, not sure what to do with it now.  Maybe just put it on every now and then and pretend I am in a fairy tale!

Have a great time tonight!!!

Gail :)

We knew what you meant Mare!  Glad you could stop by the anniversary party!  It was LinTom who has adhesions and lots of trouble from them.  She may want to know more about the good results you had with body rolling and adhesions.  If you get a chance to drop by after your date with DH we wil make room in the hot tub for you!  MV

Hi there!  I'm from Bakersfield, CA, born in Las Vegas, NV.  Currently living in Rockford, IL.  In the past 10 years we've moved around a bit due to my husband's schooling. In 1005 we were to move to the island of Montserrat but a volcano suddenly errupted after being dormant for 50 or so years.  We went to St. Maarten instead and lived there for 2 years before moving back to Bakersfield then to Villa Park, IL and now Rockford.  I had 2 small children when we left for the Caribbean, 5 and 7 mos.  It was a great adventure, fun but difficult, too.  I'd really like to go back someday!  Especially when IL is 7 degrees and was -11 last week.  Ahhhh, I can remember being on the beach on Christmas day.

I'm nearly 3 months post op and feeling pretty good.  I have some hormonal issues going on but Monday is my annual appointment so there'll be lots of questions for the doc.

I have to say, I pop in here everyday just to check in and I'm still so grateful that I found this site.  It's the one place where we can freely ask questions no matter what they are and can trust that someone here has been there/done that and can help.  It's a great feeling knowing that others support me.

Thanks Ladies!

Hey everyone! Well.... I'm thinking I'd like to go to Trinidad to see some of those men....!
Not a chance you'd catch me in Mexico right now... little bit of a problem with Canadian Tourists over there! Oh well.
My first wedding was a beautiful sleevless, drop waist, box pleated gown - white and trimmed with beads along the hem - only $600! (probably polyester...) it's in the salvation army drop box somewhere!
My second wedding... well, lets see if Adam sticks around through all this cancer ****! Just kidding... any man who can wake up to my bald head and alien eyes and tell me he loves me, you know he's not goin' anywhere!
If I can get a ring out of him, it will be a destination wedding - Dominican? Cuba? Hmmm... somewhere hot, for sure!
Won't be around long tonight...had my chemo Thursday and have been vomiting non-stop today. Not so fun. Thanks to the Dr who told me I wouldn't need to take my Zofran this time because I was just having Carboplatin - wonder if he'll be coming by to clean my toilets for me!
Have a good one ladies and please...have a drink for me!
Love ya!

Hey there Lady!  Haven't used my voice at one of these things for a very long time...I remember a year ago when I was having my "hair dilema"....we were all talking and I said we should have an old time slumber party....jammies on fixing eachother's hair...thus our first "cyber party"....wow...and none of this would have happened without you Blondie!   Anyway...much has happened in this past year...saw my onc yesterday and was told "everything looks good"...my CA125 came in at 2.4....my last pap was off a little but I am not worried...will repeat it in a month or so.....
Now lets get serious....my wedding....no..errr....weddings....all three of them..first one was wearing a skirt and jacket in Fla trying to "not look too pregnant"....the the justice of the peace told me not to look so worried...just get a divorce if it doesn't work out....the second one was in a cream dress...very simple..after all, simplicity is classic...and it would have been classic if I wasn't committing bigamy....my divorce hadn't been finished up paperwork wise...My third marriage was quite beautiful but I changed my mind and wouldn't have shown up if my youngest wasn't with his soon to be step father's parents....I cried not for joy but because I kept asking myself "why are you doing this again!"....after the ceremony when the ministers said "you may kiss the bride"....I kissed the ministers as I liked them better! Oh well, that was 29 years ago...no matter how hard I tried this guy just refused to leave (and now I am glad and consider myself a very lucky woman to have such a wonderful husband....not that he is perfect or anything....).
I have taken up enough space....maybe I'll be back later...oh yea....I will even leave my bottle of Chevas with you ladies but watch the scotch in the hot tub...just might get too intense!
Peace ladies.

Hi Dian,
Been meaning to call you.  Wedding wear, what a loaded subject!  Great stories though and glad you remember our first Cyber Party, especially since you gave me the idea.  Long road since the but so glad to have traveled it with you!  (I'll make sure there is no spillage of the scotch till you return Girl!)  MV

P.S.
I do remember what a bad time we all gave you for your attempt to dye your new hair after chemo, it came out orange-pink if memory serves me.  Between Cysters, it's OK.  There was a little "shoving" around here this week but I think we all survived it.

Hey all! Shawn from Texas here!  My first wedding I had the whole she-bang, but when we went to get our marriage license, due to family conflicts (controling mother), we got married right there in the court house.  I was wearing a white dress with pastel strips and white pumps.  Can you tell this was 1983???  And I was only 18!  Well that ticked my controlling mother off royally, since it was 2 weeks before the church wedding.  We planned on going thru with the church ceremony, but she made me cancel it.  I had to send letters out to everyone!  I'm sure every gossipy ninny assumed I was preggo!  I wasn't, I was just tired of the stress of it all and not being able to pick out anything for myself!  Whose wedding was it anyway?

My lovely husband of 20 years lost his battle with renal cell cancer and ironically died on our 20th wedding anniversary.

I am happily engaged now to a wonderful man who has been there for me...thick and thin.  He helped me this last year with I had the big OVCA scare, but thankfully I was in the 99% club.

OH YES I remember the hair story, you had me laughing so hard I was crying!  What did you refer to it as, was it Ronald MacDonald?  Bozo Clown?  Oh I can't remember.

LOVE YOUR wedding dress stories, keep it up girls!!!

I went to church tea a few years ago and they had a fashion show... YES you guessed it, everyone wore their wedding dresses!  The styles!!!  There was one little old doll who had been married in I swear 1785 or something.
A few that were left open at the back, couldn't close anymore, it was hysterical.  What a fun day that was.

Pass some limie chips Mary.

You got it my Sister Katie!  I can just picture the unzipped backs!  How brave was that!
Shawn I did not know you had seen the widow bit, I am so sorry!  I was a widow at 23 without being a bride.  A Texan too, I love Texans!  He drove out in front of a train in Germany.  Life sucks sometimes!  But there are second chances and thrid and fourth, your beloved is proof of that!  Good for him, what a lucky Guy to get you, one of the coolest Ladies I know!  Make certain he understands that and the first time he forgets I will send a virtual head-slapping his way!  MV

So glad it was a typo Girl, you are of my heart and I hurt for you as does Grace.  So where was she when you were saying your Goodbyes?  Guessing not there but could be wrong.  She, as always, will be your strength.  Talk to her Angela as she will understand, but only when you are ready.  She's a child and we are your Cysters so talk to us when you want.  Hope the morning brings clarity and that tonight has brought you release!  Glad I dont have to wait two years to hear from you, even though I would.  Lotsa Love!  MV

hello to all. sorry i am a bit late to this party. i am also a bit new to this whole website. i live in california. i am 26 years old. i am persian and my husband is american from oklahoma. he is one year younger than me and a veteran. he is out of the marine corp now. i have a two year old little girl. the wedding dress question... hmm... well, i planned a really big wedding. i bought my 2000 dollar dress, got the beautiful party place rented and already paid 2000 for the flowers. and thats when i sit down and thought instead of spending all this money just for one night for food and all so much stuff that people will just enjoy for a few nights, i should instead keep the money and go on a nice honeymooon. so even though i had spentsome money already, instead we went to vegas and got married in jeans. we had a wonderful time though. but now i think i should have done it . i wish i threw the party and wore my wedding dress. my husband and i battle constantly but deep down inside ,waaay deep in our hearts somewhere, we love eachother. it feels so weird coming oline and going to a cyber party . i am still tryint to get used to remember every name on this site. i will get the hang of it i guess. well, its gettign late, i better be going. thanks for the party you guys.
