I too have a complex ovarian cyst on my right ovary. I went to the Dr. yesterday and he told me that he would do a laporotomy remove the right ovary and tube and then do a biopsy on them while I amstill under anesthesia, if it comes back as being Cancer they will have to do a total abdominal hysterectomy. He told me there is only a 10% chance that it is malignant, so I am optimistic. He said the reason for the laporotomy is that they dont want any contents of the cyst to burst and empty into the abdomen and cause problems, while trying to remove it, so it is better to remove the ovary. I also have a simple cyst on my left ovary that he said he will just drain if everything with the biopsy comes back okay. My CA125 was normal also, he said this could because the cyst is only 2cm, that the results are not always dependable, alot of false negatives and positives too. I am 46 and have had my children so this option was fine for me after he gave me the explanation as to why, but everyone is different. Good luck to you. I find out on weds. when my surgery is scheduled and I am very anxious also.

I would think they could do it laprascopically but you should really ask your dr. he/she may have a preference depending on what she thinks the cyst could be. If you dr. isn't a gyn/onc. you should consider consulting one, not because I think this is cancer just because they have more training. It is good your CA125 was normal. Please remember over 90 percent of cysts are benign.
Take care and keep us posted,
