Reoccurance & Treatments available

Last contacted you as mobydick in 2006. Wife dig 2001, tax/car 6 sessions, 2.5 year remission. April 04 1st relapse, 9 sessions taxoil/carb, 9 momnths remission, since Aug 05 has taken taxotarre-did not work, Gemzar 6 sessions ca dropped from 1600 to 34 then started to rise. Took a 5 month break(our choice) CA up to 4500. Started topotegan, CA down to 600, then scan showed new growths, so started Doxil (caylex) CA rose to 900, for 2 sessions, then rose to 1600 , new scan showed old died, but it allowed new areas to develop. All growths are in the lympth nodes only, no other organs involved. We are now looking at what else Violet should try. In herself my wife is in great spirits, in good health, feels and look great, and will not let this beat her. wonders what she should try next. tks her husband Steve

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Dear Steve,

I have three thoughts for you:

-stay on the doxil. It can take 3-5 doses before you see an effect. This may be a reasonable option if she is completely asymptomatic. Doxil is a slow actor. Sometimes we give up on it too quickly.

-go back to carbo. There is a risk that she will develop a carbo allergy but she can be desensitized if that happens

-ask your oncologist about what clinical trials are available.

best wishes
