Constant pelvic pain

I have been experiencing pelvic pain for approximately 1 year. There are times that the pain radiates into my upper thigh. Sometimes the pain is debilitating. I have frequency and urgency with urinating. Sometimes I have sharp rectal pains. Most of the pain is low left side. I have had several ultrasouds that continually show cysts and that my uterus is anteverted. The last two ultrasounds showed the Endometrial stripe being normal in thickness but small areas of echogenicity in the endometrial stripe are seen. I have tried the Lupron shot with side effects that I could not continue with. Altthough the Lupron shot did cease my pevlice pain, once off for a month the pain returned and is constant. My Dr. is recommending a total hysterectomy and I am not sure what to do or if there are any other options. Your opinion and recommendations are greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Dear Keri,

Sometimes getting more information before making a final decision can be helpful. For instance, a diagnostic laparoscopy can answer the question of whether you truly have endometriosis.

Some of your symptoms make me wonder about bladder conditions such as interstitial cystitis. before deciding to do a hysterectomy, it may be helpful to see a urologist to evaluate your bladder by looking inside (cystoscopy).
take care

Dear Scoob,
good luck with everything
best wishes

My symptoms were like yours Keri i had had pelvic pain for a number of years putting it down to cyclical  and a misdiagnosis of  Endometriosis. In the last year the urinary problem was more evident frequency and latterly acute retention pain in the tail bone and rectum also . My scan revealed a large Ovarian Mass I subsequently had  a TAH, BSO, removal of cervix and Omentum. My Pathology report was not favourable I am so grateful to my Gynacologist/Oncologist for their support and guidance. Good luck with your Surgery.  From  Scoob
