Cyst during pregnancy?

After delivery of her 3rd child (pregnancy & delivery  normal, a term baby boy)the midwives found a cyst which I believe was delivered at the same time. They bought a mirror for her to see and it was 1" in diameter. They then popped the cyst and mention nothing else about it.  I am concerned do you have any information?

That is not a lot of information, but if I had to guess then I would say they found a cyst in a Bartholin's gland.  Bartholin's glands are located along the vainal wall and produce fluids to lubricate that area of the body.  She would be able to see that type of cyst because she would be able to see that area if they held a mirror for her.   Sometimes cysts can form on the outer vulvar area as well.  Those cysts are supposedly quite common, and are not a problem unless they return or cause pain.  Then it is usually necessary for a doctor to permanently remove the cyst by draining it and cutting out the cyst wall so that it does not return.
