Doxil and Regional Cooling

Have any of you tried the "regional cooling" as recommended on the Doxil site.  It recommends ice packs on wrists and ankles during the infusion?  Did it work?

I had the same reactions as abrite above --- iced my wrists and ankles and my hands and feet weren't too bad but did have terrible skin reactions === found out my doctor was being very aggressive with the dosage and after he reduced it on the 5th cycle had no problems with hands and feet due to icing them, and skin problems weren't as bad.  Also had the Doxil in clinical trials five years ago and was told to ice then and it worked.  Go to Doxil.com if your doctor doesn't give you a kit, call the 877 number and they will mail you stuff and call you to give you help if you need it.  Good luck --- It looked like it wasn't working for me then my counts dropped after the treatment was done......
Everyone is different -- just remember if you have problems the doxil helpline is actually helpful

I used the icepacks on my palms and soles of my feet. Also sucked on ice during the infusion. Never had any problems with those areas but did have other skin issues. Could not wear anything elastic or tight...no bra, only oversized undies, drawstring pants and bedroom slippers. Everyone is different so I hope all goes well for you.

Your oncs office should have a kit for you from the manufacturer of Doxil that has ice packs, a thermometer (for your bath water) and some other stuff.  I don't know how well it works, but I am hoping it works well because I am fixing to start it next.  Some of the ladies on here who have beeen on it also recommend sucking on ice chips while getting infused to help with mouth sores.
Good luck
