Thanks for your responses. I cannot ask my sister at the moment which type of tumour it is because she is only able to process and pass on small amounts of information at a time because of the shock. I just recall saying last year and a few years ago to myself and my partner that - 'there is something wrong with my sister - she doesn't seem quite right' and wonder in retrospect if she had been growing this cancer for a few years and it did affect her without us being really aware - has anyone else had that experience within family?
Thanks for your kind wishes for my sister.
I have Clear Cell Ovarian Cancer. When I was first diagnosed at Stage II, my ONC said it had been forming for about eight months. My tumor was the size of a small melon. All the different types grow and spread differently.
The average delay in diagnosing Ovarian Cancer is 3 to 12 months...but that does not tell us how long it takes to go from stage 1 to stage 2 to stage 3 to stage 4.
At this time there is no way of knowing when OVCA started, it is only by early detection that the risks are cut down.
Mine is a slow growing cell type. It could have been lurking around in me for 10 years or more. My mom's was too. Her doc said she must have had it for many years. All types are different and all patients are different. I wish your sister the best. Marie
It depends what type of her cancer is. some are slow growers and somer are faster. For me which is papilary serous carcinoma i think take about 18 month.
Please be there whenever she needs.
peace and Love
