Laproscopy yesterday, have you ever heard of an ovary disappearing?

I had my lap. surgery yesterday....I am doing great! My right ovary had been pulled over to the left side by my bowel, and the left ovary (according to the sonogram 2 weeks ago) was enlarged....almost doubled the size from the previous sonogram a month before....and it also had 2 cyst on it one was rather large.....the strange thing is.....when they did my surgery yesterday the couldn't find my left ovary!!! I just don't understand that! I have never heard of it disapprearing.....the doctor said that if I continue to have problems on the left side they would have to open me up instead of lap. surgery so they could find it!

Another reason might seem a little strange but the case might be that you never had an ovary on that side, and the ultrasound visualized something on that side of the uterus itself, like a cyst or fibroid.  Did the doctor note any structures on that side of your uterus?
