Thank you for your help.
New question: I have read that ovarian "bilateral parenchymal (sp?) involvement" is suggestive of the ovarian tumor NOT being primary but metastatic (gastrointestinal/ pancreas etc.).
The question:
I have 13 cm mucinous tumor on left ovary.
4 cm follicular cyst on right ovary.
Is this "bilateral parenchymal (sp?) involvement?"
Hi There
so what I understand is that you have an unstaged ovarian cancer
You need to seek a consultation with a gynecologic oncologist
The big question is , do you need a second surgery to sort out what stage your cancer is. If all biopsies are negative and you have a stage I cancer, your prognosis is excellent.
For a tiny cancer within a confined benign tumor, it is unclear whether the addition of chemotherapy reduces the risk of recurrence.
best wishes
did you have surgery? ......................yes
what type? ..................... TAH-BSO
what was the extent of the cancer..... No staging 17cm tumor, but no biopsies or peritoneal washings etc.)
have you had chemo? No
your age 42
other medical illnesses None
"as far as the histology
grade is the most important risk factor"
..... What grade is sarcomatous mural nodule (6mm)
Hi There
prognosis which is a word we usually use to estimate risk of recurrence and death
is based on many issues:
surgical resectability
stage of disease
size of tumor
what other therapy was given
medical illnesses
age
as far as the histology
grade is the most important risk factor
so :
did you have surgery?
what type?
what was the extent of the cancer
have you had chemo?
your age
other medical illnesses
thank you!
-oops...I know how to count
1. Anaplastic carcinoma (rhaboid, sarcomatoid, pleomorphic)
2 . Sarcoma-like
3. Sarcoma
