I have needed Nexium for more years than I can remember for GERD. I have found that occasionally, during chemo, I need to pop in a PEPCID AC COMPLETE in addition to the Nexium .. but never at the same time. I always needed Pepcid if I drank red wine. I asked my gastro MD about taking both and he said I could since they do different things. My ONC also knows I take both ...
Constipation/Diarrhea are common with chemo. I like Miralax for constipation.
I prefer not to dwell on the more serious side effects at this time. I know they are a possibility, but so far, so good.

I started having problems digesting. Found small meals, soft or malted shakes sometimes instead of regular meals help. But it is difficult to stick with it.
Hi Angie,
My oncologist explained that the bowel problems are due to chemo, some cause diarrhea, some cause constipation. Thankfully there are meds that can help, I find Colace and Miralax works for me.
Of course Lucymullis is right, that it can be a more serious problem, and I was warned to expect that some day.

because the tumors are in the abdominal area. They tend to grow and wrap around the organs there. For example, they can constrict the colon and stop the bowel from working. That's why obstructions are so common.
