Ovarian Cyst

Kay, well le me first start off by saying My name is Brianne. Im 16 years old and really scared....

I was diagnosed with a 15cm x 9cm ovarian cyst 2 months ago. It wasnt twisting, didnt rupture nothing. It's just sitting on my left ovary. But I'm scared that when I get surgery, I will lose my left ovary.... I am feeling more pain now then I did before...I have an appointent with my GYN oct 4th....but I don't know what I should do.

Do any of you think I will lose it?

P.S, I was told to take Birth Control for it but it made it worse...

Hi There,
looks like you are in good hands. And Smiles has given you some good advice.
You will be fine. It is important to remove this tumor. Most of these tumors are benign and your fertility can be preserved.
best wishes

Hey :)

I'm 17 and had surgery to remove a 12cm x 10cm cyst on my right ovary 6 weeks ago. Try not to worry about losing your ovary..I know its hard! They thought they were going to have to take mine but it ended up being okay..they took my appendix instead! You only need one ovary anyway so could still be perfectly able to concieve with just one :) I had a laparotomy because they said mines was too difficult for keyhole so my scars about 15cm long and just under the bikini line. Its healed fine and I had recovered within about 2-3 weeks so our age was on our side here! Hopefully if they can do keyhole it will be even quicker for you! Rubbish thing to be told at this age! Good luck :)

Haha they took my appendix because when they opened me up they found it was stuck to My pouch of douglas?? and was infected too! so it was all tangled in the wrong place :/ but hopefully everything goes okay for you :) xx
