Please help with pathology report

Thank you so much for taking my question.  I am 40 years old & suffered an ectopic pregnancy with my first baby in July 2008.  I was treated with Methotrexate & my BHCG levels returned to <2.  Unfortunately, I continued to have a stable size 6.5cm "cystic mass" on/near my left ovary-which is where the original ectopic was diagnosed.  I had a lap on 9.24.08-at which time my doctor drained a "large corpus luteum cyst" but did not send anything for cytology-which really uspet me.  The "cyst" returned at 5.8cm by 11.20.08 & after another ultrasound on 12.29.08 I requested left tube/ovary removal & a frozen section due to the appearance of "a few thin septations" and "slight mural irregularility posteriorly."  I also felt a strong urge to really put an end to this & begin to heal from my loss & the constant worry of monthly ultrasounds.  The frozen section was negative & the pathology report states "Simple collapsed paratubal/paraovarian cyst.  Focal histiocytic cell reaction with hemosiderin pigment deposit.  Ovary with capsular fibrosis & focal chronic inflammation & hemosiderin pigment with macrophages.  Fallopian tube with perimuscular tissue showing hemosiderin pigment deposit."  I do not return to the doctor until 1.16.09 & am hoping you can help me make sense out of this pathology report.  I am sorry if I am posting this on the wrong forum but I have been so worried about the persistence of the left ovarian cystic mass & pray that I don't have anything more serious going on. I am not sure if this was a complete methotrexate failure with my ectopic or some type of ominous pathology.  My doctor said my right tube & ovary look great & an HSG with the first lap showed patency of the tube.  Thank you again for your time & God Bless.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Dear Monnie, thank you for your question and your complete information.
You are a smart person and clearly a good advocate for your health.

That pathology report is all benign. It was a benign cyst with some old blood (hemosiderin) and inflammation.  You should be all set. Also there is nothing about that cyst that puts you at any increased risk of malignancy.
It sounds like you have a good doctor as well.
best wishes to you
