Please help

Hello.  I am so grateful to have found this forum.  I have been having pain in my upper abdomen since I gave birth 4 years ago.  A few years later I had a myomectomy to remove a very large fibroid (around 10 cm) that I had during pregnancy as well.  I have a breast condition - hypductal dysplaisia, and recently I had a hyster(test where they fill up the uterus with saline and give an ultra sound)  that showed a polyp.  The tech also commented that there was fluid in my uterus and that it could be a partial natural hyst because of the fluid.  She didn't seems concerned and so neither did I.  That was until I got a call from my Dr. who gave me a C-125 (at my request, not his), and the levels were elevated.  I was scheduled for an MRI months ago, but I never went.  I am going to a specialist on Monday.  My questions are:  Can the C-125 reflect the fact that I still have a fibroid and polyp?  Could the fluid they say during the test be a result of me being on the 5th day of my period?  I've had pain and bloating and swelling (especially when it's humid or I have my period or am ovulating, could that be just something my body does because of all the scar tissue (two major surgeries with vertical incisions), and because of the fibroids and such?  I did start spotting during ovulation this cycle - could that be because of the test I had a week ago?  IT was pretty brutal as I have a tilted cervix and they had to do the test twice.

Thank you so VERY much.  I am pretty upset.  I have a special needs daughter who requires lots of attention.  I want to be here for her.

Hi There,
I completely agree with Neta. The most likely reason for an elevated CA 125 is fibroids. You need to follow up with your doctor and carefully review the reports. It may be reasonable to do a D&C (dilation and curettage to remove the polyp inside the uterus. Those are usually benign but can cause abnormal bleeding

Hello there.  I am not an expert, but for what I know, is that the CA _125 marker can be increased for several reasons like fibroids, endometriosis, cysts, menstruastiation and other inflammations in the abdomen.  The free fluid can be of a broken cyst and this can give you pain, too.  It's a good idea to get checked and see what's going on.

There are several ladies here that have gone through the same and probably can give you more information.

Hope for the best,

Neta
