Re: Sensations Ovarian Cyst Removal

I had a 20 cm benign cyst removed about 13 weeks ago, and I am still feeling "strange" sensations in my groin area. I also feel and occasional "stabbing" feeling in that area. I was wondering if anyone has had this problem for that long a time after surgery. It seems that the feelings become more intense after sitting for long periods of time.

Thanks,

Dee

Hi there.  Just so you know there is now an ovarian cyst forum where these questions should be asked as their own posting.  It is very likely you have adhesions from the surgery.  There are two ways to deal with these - google ball rolling which helps or go to a massage therapist who works on fascia.  Mine works on my abdomen and I can't believe how much better it feels afterwards.

Nats your was 25cm HAHAHAHAHAHAHA xxxxxxxx

Its encouraging to here that a 20cm cyst was benign though. Mines 20cm and getting more uncomfortable by the day. Every morning I get up and pray its gone down a bit - like a cyst that size is gonna go on its own lol.

I had a 20cm cyst removed six weeks ago and about 2 weeks ago I started a strange 'stabbing' pain on my right (about where my right ovary is - had the left one removed) - it feels like it is 'on fire' when I sneeze or cough and is getting worse.  What is yours like?  Told the Dr and she said all felt normal and not to worry!?!

Hi Dee, I'm wondering if nerves could have gotten compressed somehow? I know I didn't have a good surgeon and I switched gynes for my follow-up appt. Of course he wouldn't say anything "bad" about the one who did my surgery. ugh.

Mine hurt most when I bend or lift. But, I know you and I are both 12 weeks post-op. Shouldn't we feel fine now?

Hi Nat2,

After 13 weeks, besides the "strange-bubbly-sizzle type feeling", I still feel an occasional "fire"  feeling as well. I don't know I guess we are all different. Some of the people that posted here have said that they were told that it could take up to a year for some people to completely heal inside. Who knows what is going on in our body, and how that will translate to what we feel. I sure hope that it does not take that long. Has anyone else been told about this year process?

Thanks,

Dee

Hi again- I haven't been on in awhile.  I wish I had listened to your advice.  I weht back teaching 3 weeks after having my ovaries, tumor and a cyst removed.  I had surgery April 3rd and I am soooo tired.  Most of the time I don't know how I'm going to make it through the day.  I went back to work too soon  since I didn't have any sick time left.  What a mistake!!!  I am having such severe mood swings that that the doctor put me on a low lose of premarin (I'm 54) I am still having pain/soreness on my left side. I hope I feel better soon - I am getting quite anxious- xanax is just a temporary fix for me.  Thanks for listening AGAIN

Hi Linda,

Sorry to hear you are still having the same problems. Doctors never tell you about all of the problems that you may encounter after surgery. As a matter of fact, they often look at you like they have never heard of your problem before. I just hope that this feeling eventually goes away. It is really driving me crazy. I often sit for hours at my job, and I still literally feel that the sitting position is putting pressure on the incisional area, which I am sure is not helping me heal inside after all of these weeks. I am also beginning to wonder if we had the greatest surgeons to begin with? Oh well, I hope you get better also. Thanks for responding again!

Hi Medsec, good to see you back! I am still having strange sensations by my navel incision and the incision over the ovary is very tender. I saw a new gyne and he says it is scar tissue? Don't know if that means it is going to remain this way or what?
