SO SCARED

Hi all, I have posted on here before but I am so frightened have a complex cyst on my right ovary roughly 6cm, bleeding is light, bloated and gas. I have been for all blood tests including a CA125 went to my gyno yesterday and he has no bedside manner and is blunt. All blood tests were fine but my estrogen is up and he thinks the cyst may be producing hormornes called androgens. He basically had me in the cancer corner has palmed me off to a specialist at another hospital which i dont feel comfortable with. I am now going for a second opinion as he didnt give me the answers i am seeking. My next appointment is next week. By the way he said due to I had put a little bit of weight on I was a risk and I felt terrible like he didnt want to know, he had me in tears let me leave his office like that which in turn i nearly had a car crash on the way home. Some one please help i am scared its cancer.

Thanks all

Hi Guys,

Thankyou so much for replying to my post and you have made me feel so much better after reading your comments. I am going to get another opinion on Friday the 17th August and I will keep you posted as to what the outcome is.

I know its a wait and see game but I will try and not to panic on the flip side.

Thanks again.

Madismom is correct...good for the doctor for sending you to a specialist...and going to a specialist, even a GYN/Oncologist does not mean that it is cancer...not at all.  A GYN/Oncologist has 3 years additional training in all gynocological issues, they treat many benign conditions.

Also, a cyst of 6cm is something that they might want to remove, and only because it can twist and cause other issues, not because they suspect anything.

Ovarian Cancer is a very rare disease, and most cysts, even complex ones are benign.

There is an old saying, Don't Waste a Good Panic....try not to think past the next doctors appointment.  IF you are diagnosed, I promise that we will help you through it.

Keep us posted.

Hi There,
I am far from an expert in this area, other than the research I've been doing the past couple of weeks while waiting for an ultrasound to see what is going on with me.  But what you've described, and your mention of androgens, sounds like he may think it is polycystic ovary syndrome.  From what I can remember about this syndrome it's definitely not a death sentence, they can do many things to manage it.  Going for a second opinion is never a bad idea, but try not to worry while waiting to see your next doctor.  Also, while it sounds like your current doctor could use some better bedside manners him sending you to a specialist isn't necessarily because he doesn't want to deal with you but because he feels you would get better treatment by a doctor that is more specialized than himself.
Good luck and keep us posted on your condition.
