Should I be concerned?

I'm looking for guidance and wondering if I am "over reacting" to little symptoms.  For years I have had painful and heavy periods.  I have had three children in the past 6 years and thought it would get better.  For the last 1 1/2 years, things have worsened.  I have had horrible periods- the worst lasting over two weeks, extremely painful cramping- all on the left side often during non-menstrual weeks, and periods that keep moving closer together.  Add to that a recent unexplained weight gain (almost 10 lbs in less than 2 weeks), bloating, heartburn, feeling full, nausea and unbelievable fatigue.  My doctor did a pelvic exam and then sent me to have an ultrasound.  The tech did a lower abdominal ultrasound for a few minutes, then said she needed to have me do a transvaginal (what fun is that??).  She poked around for almost a half and hour, then sent me on my way.  It took 2 1/2 weeks for results to be read and returned.  A nurse finally called and said- "Your ultrasound appeared normal.  However- we couldn't find your left ovary.  You can see our GYN if you want.  Shall I make an appointment?"  What does that mean?  It was so non-chalant.  I decided to find a new GYN to go to, outside of my regular doc's office, but I am left with a feeling of uncertainty- am I over-reacting?  I can already see from researching on the web that I have many possible symptoms of OC, but I don't want to walk into a new doctor's and be brushed off or be too pushy.  Does anyone have any advice or thoughts on this situation?

I agree with Angie, in addition I would ask for a Ca125 blood test, and see another GYN if your not satisfied with the one you saw. This is too important to let it go. Check the OVCA symptoms in a website and see if you have them. If G-d forbid it is cancer, you have a better chance with an early diagnosis, I don't want to scare you, but I was not diagnosed until mine was stage 111C. Please keep us informed, and remember you must be your own advocate, it's your body! Jane

Hi , I don,t think you are over reacting , your body is telling you there is something wrong. You have a lot of symptoms that could be a number of things . I would definately make an appointment to get to the bottom of what is going on , I would ask them to rule out Ovarian Cancer to put your mind at rest ,although as I have said it could be many others things .
I hope everything turns out well for you , please keep us posted and good luck .

Best  wishes
