Thanks-ack.What is about CA 125 and ascites

by Indrasis, May 30, 2006 12:00AM
Thanks Ack for your posting.Hope your mom continue normal life for long time. Could you or anyone kindly say about the CA 125 during the Clear cell Carcinoma episode and ascites involved before surgery, adhesions if any. I have seen on the net that for Clear cell carcinoma CA 125 normally does not go beyond 60 and less ascites get involved. My mom had no ascites at all. for her stage IIa she is receiving the chemo well up to now.

Some cancers simply do not secrete the 125 antigen.   Thus, the CA-125 test results do not reflect well the status of the cancer.

And ascites is often a symptom only in later stages of some cancers, and the condition usually results from involvement of the liver.  In fact, the most common cause of ascites is not cancer, but rather liver disease and failure.
