The Hysterectomy Site

Hi Battalion!  Just a question, I saw where you all said the Hysterectomy site should change their name to "Alternatives to Hysterectomy".  Well, I was just there and right under their name, that is what it says!!!  Has it always or is this something new?

Hi Kasie and everyone. I am just getting caught up reading the updates from the day...and, I still have that dang dictation to do. But, I wanted to say that I thought I noticed a change on the hysterectomy site and I do think that it was not written that way up until about a week and a half ago. I wondered if my eyes were playing tricks on me.

Kasie, just go to the top of the page here or on the main page for this site and click "forums" at the top. You want to get to the main list of all of the forums that Medhelp.org offers. Then click on "Hysterectomy." That will take you to the site we are talking about.

I was looking at the site about a month ago and responded to a woman named "Celene149" (???) I think that was the screen name, and in my response, I wrote extensively about hormonal treatments. I wanted to mention that to you since I know we talked about this last night in a post further down. So, I think, or hope, that you will find my information helpful if you decide to read the post.

I was upset and came back here to vent since my responses were dismissed rather abruptly by the person answering the forum questions. Celine herself couldn't have been nicer. But I felt that the responses in general by the site operator were not helpful. This is when all here of us got involved since I posted my frustration. I think you see what I mean. The thread is "Post hysterectomy and HRT" or something like that. The other thread that had people upset is about a man who was wondering if his wife should have a hysterectomy.

You made a good decision by coming to our site. I am having to take Mary V.'s (Ravenlady) advice, though, and not stray too often over there. I get very frustrated by the site and I have to realize that I cannot save the world :(     Darnit.

So, if you think your blood pressure can take it, check out the site. Otherwise....just keep reading the posts I referenced for you on hormonal treatments. That will keep you busy :)

Mary

Boy Mary, where you ever right!  I went to the forum and I was so mad at what I was reading.  I did leave a comment and told them what a sham they are.  Those poor women need support, not pushy, rude people.  Hope to talk to you soon.  Kasie

Hi Kasie,

So, you checked the other site? Yes...sad, isn't it? And, I think it was the tone that upset us all the most. There are ways to say things that are helpful and not so intrusive...that's not the word. It is late here in Minnesota.

I wanted to encourage you to consider getting Dr. Uzzi Reiss's book called "Natural Hormonal Treatment" ..or Natural Hormone Treatment..you get the gist. It is so fascinating.

I take magnesium and started to when I found out I was heading into Osteopenia, one level away from Osteoporosis. I have worked out quite consistently since 1982 (I am 52) and I had used weights for several years, too. So, I was shocked when I found out that things were bad in one of the tests for bone density. I broke my wrist, too (in 2002, before I knew my bones were in trouble)...and, I have fallen before...I just seemed more vulnerable.

I am getting too detailed here, sorry. But, magnesium is so deficient in people that it is starting to be a huge health crisis....calcium gets the big play, but too much calcium can actually block absorbtion of magnesium and magnesium makes the bones "Elastic." I was just reading this last night. Oh, by the way, I was able to reverse my sad state of bone loss and now I am above normal in all bone categories.

Dr. Christianne Northrup "The Wisdom of Menopause" is great. From her book I discovered SOOOO much...including the stuff about magnesium. But, it was Reiss's book that goes into interesting detail about magnesium with the latest information, too. His book came out in 2003 and Northrup's in 2000, I think. Both are great.

Off to bed. Take care....Hope you are feeling well. Mary
