Two weeks postop and on the mend

Hi everybody,

Just wanted to update you. Sorry I haven't been on much lately. I just find I was tired, sore, and I have 2 little ones. Hard to get any test, forget computer play time.

I have thank God had a lot of help because I cannot life my baby girl for 3-4 weeks post surgery. Therefore, I cannot be left alone. My family and friends have really come together for me and my family.

I am still sore, the stitches bother me a little, but the $%#^@&
gas pain. Oh my God. I couldn't believe it.  Two weeks after surgery and my stomach is still not right. I have taken the stool softners, then laxatives. Finally a BM and then I would get diarrhea. Then should I eat bananas? What a mess. It is getting slowly better day by day. If I'm on my feet too long, I do get very sore and have to lay down. I am only taking Motrin 600 since 4 days after surgery. It just caused my tummy problems to be worse. I would rather be a little sore than have the gas and constipation.

Every day gets a little better. I am still soooo confused though about the hormone replacement issues. I was given a patch immediately after surgery. I don't know the differences of the patch vs. the pill. I don't know the risks involved in taking the hormones. I don't know when the symptoms can start.

Any feedback on this issue would be appreciated. I was just thrown into this so quick I didn't have much time to research it.
Thanks again for you all for being there. I am so grateful to be here with my family and to know I don't have cancer. Everything else I can live with.

Hi Shelly, I do hope you start to feel better soon. I know I have read your posts...just trying to remember. You had a total hysterectomy, right.....yes..otherwise you would not have been given hormones. Hmmm...kind of a dumb question on my part. Hang in there with me.

I just posted to DebiR to go to the posts from March 16-17 as there is a ton of info on surgical menopause, the hormone jungle issue, etc. Kind of long..but, as you stated, this is very complicated. I have a very clear understanding of the issue, but this is after five years of studying it...and, living it, and continuously doing what I need to do to make things work well. Take care. Mary

Hi gals! I'm very interested in this as well. I wasn't given any hormone replacement on discharge and I'm really unsure as to what I want to do. I think I'm going to see how I go with nothing to start with, then if things become to hard to handle, maybe try some of the natural products first. I'm going to see my women's health nurse in a couple of weeks and then the specialist also, and together with the info I've got from your posts, Mary, I guess I'll be able to make a more informed decision then. Ciao!
