Joints and OVCA

Hi

Mum has had carbo and taxol 3 times (2005, 2006 and 2008) for reoccurances.

She has found since the last lot in 2008 her joints especially her ankles and feet are painful. She can't walk very far and gets tired.

Does anyone else have this? Is there anything that can help this?

Thanks

hi i had carbo and taxol - the taxol seemed to effect my bone marrow - walking brought me to tears- it just took time to repair itself they gave me two units of blood about 2 weeks to 3 weels after every taxol -  the ocologist said " i had wimpy bone marrow-"after the transfusions the color would return to my face and with in a few days my legs would not hurt as much.still took time  for the leg pain to go away. and still took a while to get over being so very tired.  i hope this helps  sv

Taxol caused my feet and ankles to hurt terribly to the point I had trouble walking from two days after treatment until about 5 days later.  However, once I finished it, the soreness pretty much went away.  For some, though, the soreness never really goes completely away.  Carboplatin is one of the few chemos that never completely leaves your bone marrow, so maybe that has something to do with it, too.  I don't believe there is anything that can help since it isn't quite like arthritis pain.  But I would contact her doctor and see if there is anything he/she may recommend.

Best wishes to your mom!

My daughter-in-law says that after chemo her joints feel like they are on fire. I don't know of anything that will help. Maybe someone else does?  K
