Hi There
I completely agree. You need an abdominal approach to surgery. Vaginal approach would be inadequate and dangerous.
it takes six weeks to recover. Usually it is 2-3 days in hospital but that varies on the person and the specific surgery

Thank you for your response. I also had an MRI done with/without contrast. The results are; 1-Left hydrosalpinx appears to contain debris and/or blood components, 2-5.9 cm hemorrhagic cyst in the left ovary, 3- 1.4 cm benign-appearing cyst of the right ovary 4- There are twelve uterine fibroids seen ranging from 3.8 to 0.5 cm . Also the uterus is enlarged measuring over 10.2 x 6.4 x 5.0 At least twelve well-defined low signal intensity masses are seen scattered through the uterus on T2-weighted scans indicating uterine fibroids. I have seen a gyn oncologist and he has said the same. He wants to schedule surgery ASAP. He wanted some extra blood drawn and made an appointment to see me in two weeks(8/31/09). Are there any specific questions I should ask. Is this an abdominal or vaginal surgery or does it matter. Can it be done vaginally? How much time does it usually take to recover? Am I going to have to take hormones if they take my ovaries? I thought those were bad for your heart. I trust my doctor and your responses. Its just that this seems huge.
Hi There,
I agree with your GP. A gyn oncologist is the right person to see you. They have training in complex benign surgery as well as cancer surgery.
From the ultrasound report, I would say that the most likely diagnosis is endometriosis with involvement of your ovaries and fallopian tubes. That CA 125 elevation can reflect significant endometriosis and it can also be elevated from fibroids.
However, that is an abnormal ultrasound. You do need surgical intervention. You probably need a complete removal of the uterus and both ovaries and fallopian tubes to make a certain diagnosis.
please let us know how you are doing
